Phillips absolutely wasn't 'toss' before Bielsa managed them. There's some reaching going on there. Definitely became a better footballer for sure but there's some proper shite spouted for conjecture.

I think it's clear that there's a risk v's quality v's budget triangle at play here. Unless you're Citeh, you can only ever have 2 and as our funds have dried up, CW and the recruitment team appear to favouring Option 1 - Risking Avaliabilty in favour of Quality and Costs. As budget increases, the needle moves to the middle of the triangle, if we have to tighten our belt, you HAVE to move towards the Blue and Red areas and away from the McGOLDrick areas.

I absolutely wouldn’t put it past cannon to have a stormer this season, He’s well aware he’s got a point to prove with the fans, He’s looked sharper in pre season and demanding the ball a bit more and also been doing the Ollie Watkins off the shoulder of the last man, He’s never gonna be the quickest like ever but I think he bags 12-15 goals this season maybe moreThe key is at least 1 wildcard. Burrows/One/Cannon having an amazing season.
I think all of what you’ve said is fair. Ipswich fans wasn’t overly negative about him to be fair, through work I have a few fans down there and they said he was mainly steady with a few good games & some games where he was completely missing.Maybe some of us on here (although not “worked up”) genuinely believe that he’s now not very good and a liability discipline and injury wise.
I took particular notice when I saw him play for City albeit on television. I couldn’t see why Pep would want a midfield intimidator. He wasn’t at the races. God knows why Pep bought him.
I also saw both games where he was sent off on his loan spells. He was slow, getting shown up and as a result the niggly fouls did for him. He’d already cost West Ham 2 goals against ManU and Bournemouth and then in a crucial game for West Ham he gets shown up by Morgan Gibbs White, shoves a Forest player over and then 3 minutes later is late in on Gibbs White and “trips” him. Described by a West Ham vlogger and also Sky referee as Stupid.
Ipswich sending off for second yellow was similar to ours, he’s either meant it or he’s late with his studs up.
What I’ve also noticed from reading bits about him in the football press is that the loan teams impression was that he didn’t want to be there and wanted a move back to Leeds.
Times have changed but Wilder doesn’t seem to to have noticed. Successful teams have strong quick athletic players. You know, the sort Brooks was developing into. This mentality seems to be, Vinny Jones could feight. He played for us. Robbo could feight, but he’s gone. Need another who can feight. Stick his foot in, leave a bit on someone.
If Phillips doesn’t get injured and turns out to be the prime Bielsa Leeds and England Phillips or even 50% of that, I will be over the moon and wiping egg off my face. However on what my eyes see and how I view Phillips I have grave doubts that this will end well.
Sounds like a load of people on here tbh.TBF though Leeds fans are that dumb they still absolutely worshipped Bielsa even when his stubbornness was seeing them get pumped by 3/4/5 goals every week.
If he is played in the right position i.e. as a striker with a bit of creativity behind him to play him into positions then quite possibly. He needs to be given opportunities but he has shown he can get into scoring positionsI absolutely wouldn’t put it past cannon to have a stormer this season, He’s well aware he’s got a point to prove with the fans, He’s looked sharper in pre season and demanding the ball a bit more and also been doing the Ollie Watkins off the shoulder of the last man, He’s never gonna be the quickest like ever but I think he bags 12-15 goals this season maybe more
Clearly the intention is for Cannon to step up, that's what giving him the number 9 is all about. If he can get a partnership going with Bamford it could finally start to click for him. It's just that the evidence of the last season-and-a-half makes that feel unlikelyIf he is played in the right position i.e. as a striker with a bit of creativity behind him to play him into positions then quite possibly. This is not something that actually happens; it’s not in his interests and it’s certainly not in City’s interest. If we bring in Phillips it will almost certainly be on a 'pay-as-you-play' basis, as his previous record presents a risk.
I don't get this "not having a proper pre season" stuff. It is a planned programme why can't he just follow that programme, ok he won't be ready for the start of the season but will be available and in proper shape after that. Same goes for others we might get in or loanIf we bring in Phillips it will almost certainly be on a 'pay-as-you-play' basis, as his previous record presents a risk.
Having watched him in his short tenure at United last season, he clearly wasn't fit but his ability on the ball and reading of the game was top-class. The red card against Wednesday was justified, but I felt sorry for him as it was him being a split-second too slow and catching the man. Nothing malicious, but the sort of challenge he'd have made cleanly if he was up to speed.
I'm disappointed that if we do bring him in, it's late in the summer so he wont benefit from a proper Wilder pre-season where he's promised to emphasise fitness. I expect if he'll be used sparingly to start the season.
But if we get even half of the player he was when Man City first bought him, he will be a massive game-changer in this division. We looked light and weak in midfield last season, aside from Jairo, and someone like Phillips will add bite and a ton of quality.
Which manager have you appreciated at the Lane out of interest?Sounds like a load of people on here tbh.
You're right, it's a set programme...but he'll be behind everyone else. Not sure what sort of training he'll have done at City in the off-season, although you'd hope that if he really wanted to impress (or get a loan move) he'd have worked his socks off to get fit.I don't get this "not having a proper pre season" stuff. He’s been doing training with Jack Grealish. His fitness won’t be bad. He needs matches under his belt. He’s probably itching to prove the doubters wrong, nothing suits the doom mongers on here, but I think he will be tremendously good for us. And without doubt he will be good for morale in the dressing room, all his previous team mates love him.I don't get this "not having a proper pre season" stuff. You'd be surprised how much "not having a proper pre season " does affect a players readiness for the new season.I don't get this "not having a proper pre season" stuff. I just don't see what he offers tbh. I've heard Wilder say he's quick and stretches the opposition but I don't think he's quick at all and making runs to stretch the opposition is a the least you should expect from a striker who's not the big target man sort.I absolutely wouldn’t put it past cannon to have a stormer this season, He’s well aware he’s got a point to prove with the fans, He’s looked sharper in pre season and demanding the ball a bit more and also been doing the Ollie Watkins off the shoulder of the last man, He’s never gonna be the quickest like ever but I think he bags 12-15 goals this season maybe more
Dave Bassett, Warnock, Heckingbottom, Morgan, Speed, Spackman, WIlson, Clough. Kendall was OK but I wasn't going to games when he was here. my family speak fondly of Porterfield but I don't really remember much of it.Which manager have you appreciated at the Lane out of interest?

You asked which managers I appreciated - not who I thought performed the best. You can run through win percentages for that but I'll warn you, it doesn't reflect well on Cwissy.Big fan of Clough and Hecky, ok.
You enjoyed Morgans THREE wins, and respect the hell out of Speeds SIX as well.
Surprised you didn't wedge Weir in their for that pre season game vs Inter Milan.
Uggggh, youve even made cruel nickname for him.You asked which managers I appreciated - not who I thought performed the best. You can run through win percentages for that but I'll warn you, it doesn't reflect well on Cwissy.

He got 6 goals in I think 19 starts last season, He could deffo get 12-15 goals this seasonNurse, nurse, he got out again!

And didn't our purple patch last season coincide with us playing 4-4-2? (My memory may be patchy and I can't be arsed researching it)We play 2 up front if we want to win games. 3 goals in each of our play off victories against Bristol City the season before last, playing 2 up front.
With a spine of Souttar, Philips and Bamford alongside another striker other teams should be scared to play against us. That's if we improve our fitness issues.
Played 442 a fair bit?To get a partnership going with Bamford wed have to play 2 up front and we dont tend to do that
The lack of pace and width there is scary.4-3-1-2 (presuming Peck goes)
