I realise we're now in a position where we can't buy guaranteed success, however I'm more in the camp of taking a punt on a relative unknown with the basic attributes and athleticism, than this constant looking back and hoping people rekindle something from 4 or 5 seasons ago. This smacks currently of chucking all your eggs in one basket and crossing your fingers

Hes a player who was the best forward in the champ for 2/3 years which earnt him a move to Villareal

He then did very well for us in the prem , he has also done very well for Chille

Play him on the left or as a striker , he looked craap for us when we p;layed him Right Mid

In the 2/3 years prior to him leaving Blackburn on a free his stats were:

20/21 - 40 apps 7 goals
21/22 - 37 apps 22 goals
22/23 - 43 apps 14 goals

A good record, especially when looking at the 21/22 season, but to suggest he was the best forward in the Championship during that time is really disingenuous.

In 20/21 he was 26 goals behind top scorer Ivan Toney
Despite an impressive return in 21/22 he scored 21 fewer goals than Mitrovic's outrageous 43 league goals
And in 22/23 he was joint 8th top scorer, with half the number of goals that Cuba Akpom scored in that season

I know there's more to being a forward than scoring goals- but come on.

If we can get BBD into the same form as what he had at Blackburn and with us in first spell; played in his correct position on the left, then we could be looking at around 15 goals which is an incredible outcome from a winger. I think you have to go back to Paul Ifill in Warnocks promotion season for a similar outcome.

He was a bit like John Brayford - came in on loan to a team that had zero confidence, and arrived with a point to prove. His first few games he just showed an attacking mentality we'd lacked and it was great to watch. That Fulham game was a rollercoaster, and he was terrific that day (spoiled by them equalising with possibly the goal of the season).

We didn't use him right in the Championship, but when utilised properly he'll add some physicality and experience to our attack without being the wrong side of 30 like Bamford, so will retain some value.

I say go for it if we can get him at a decent price.

Because I want a second striker bringing in, I wouldn't mind it, but Im not a fan as a winger.
I'd take another Donovan to be honest.
I was trickery, bravery and pace. I can't get the image of BBD pulling out of that challenge out of my head.
He's good for the level, and if we're mixing experience with promise, then it makes sense I guess... but we need some pace adding through the middle is Ben coming in.
