The tactics of invite pressure for the final half an hour unsurprisingly didnt work.

Admire how with 4 centre backs on the pitch he managed to get a free header for the winner.

Slow closing down by Bellingham for the first.

Well, at least we weren’t cheated out. We just disappeared from the game.
Anderson got dragged in to Messi for the first and left their man with a free shot.

First half went as I feared but nothing remotely iffy about the second other than our substitutions and approach.

Only got ourselves to blame after going in front.

Would have staked everything I've got that Tuchel wouldn't do a Southgate and Wilder.

We looked good until we scored.

Absolute madness allowing them back into it.

The kind of thing Southgate was (rightly) crucified for, as should Tuchel be.

If you effectively say to Argentina, we aren’t going to attack anymore, of course they’re going to score eventually.

Messi, who had up until we’d scored, had hardly anything, then had acres of space because we dropped off.

It was such a basic mistake tactically to make - I understand doing it against Mexico with 10 men but we were so obviously going to get punished.

Pissed off but not surprised.

The worst thing you can do is go ahead against Argentina and then play a defensive game.

Their first goal, who has the edge of the box to block the shot? That is a given duty to a midfielder to close down if the ball is headed out on the corner.

Second goal, he is BETWEEN two centre backs and Konsa is jumping into fresh air. Quite why you are not touch-tight is anyone's guess.

Everyone seems to know the score, we've seen it all before ...

Argentina will win the WC26 once again (extra time or pens), Messi will retire and they won't be anywhere near the last four in 2030.

FT message from my lad 'Footballs sh6t'

Then a call asking me to justify my decision to inflict it on him, explaining that we're trauma bonded 🤣🤣

Fucking Thomas Von Southgate Tuchel, Another bottle job wanker on £6 million plus a year. Sack him and offer Pep £20 million a year tomorrow morning. At least appoint a fucking decent Euro Coach not another one who’s got the tactical nous of Chemical Ali on the streets of Baghdad with Sherman Tanks behind him,

Those crosses they kept putting in were class though, some of the best I saw for a long time,a series of them that were spot on,reminded me of Colin Morris in his pomp

Yep! My dad’s a cunt for inflicting it on me!

Luckily my daughters aren’t arsed about football, the curse in my family dies with me!

They were - maybe we could have tried stopping them from being delivered rather than dealing with the cross...

What’s irritated me most of all from that game isn’t trying the park the bus for 35 minutes when the opponent has the best footballer that’s ever lived in it.

Their 1st goal came from a corner routine that they did about 4 times - messi takes it, rolls it to the corner of the box, goes back to him - and absolutely nobody was on the edge of our area waiting for it. Really basic stuff that elite players should be able to spot in game.

I hope they watch the video back and realise how monumentally badly they fucked this up from a great position.

We watched Egypt do the same thing against them, do you think England took note?

I’d mentioned multiple times by that stage my surprise at the predictability from the Argie corners - expecting they’d vary them, turns out I was the stupid one, given it was played right into their hands in the way they were defended.

With all the attacking talent we have in the team, to not have a least one attack on the break after we went 1-0 up was so disappointing.

I understand we’re going to be defensive, but we need to give them something to worry about. It was like watching a League Two team trying to hang on at Man City in the FA Cup. We should be better than that.

Indeed. We had 12% possession between scoring and Argentina's second.

Poor England substitutions/tactics after we scored... handed full on momentum to Argentina and they took full advantage....i have seen this type of game/tactic after taking the lead played out so many times watching United.

It was bonkers. Even my 10 year old mentioned it - how 0 of our players saw it is beyond me.
