Yes, I think he got a bit flabby last season, but hopefully he will get some of thar old hunger back.
I'm all for encouraging people, but we shouldn't get too soft. I'm reminded of Billy McEwan's 'stick and carrot; but without the carrot', motivational techniques, which served us well*.

*OK, it culminated in the Oldham 1-5 defeat, but that's by the by.
