Can you imagine Dane Whitehouse signing for Leeds?

Billy Sharp was in Sheffield to sign for Wednesday last season until Southampton told him to turn around and drive Reading instead.

He wanted to play for Wednesday but Reading offered to pay his whole wage so Southampton forced him to join Reading over Sheff Wed who wouldn't/couldn't pay his full wage.

We can't afford his premiership (or at best - Championship) wages. Move on.

This doesn't mean we have no money. All it means is that if we had signed Sharp then we probably wouldn't have been able to sign the other 7 or so players we have.

Your talking too much common sense there Matt ,
We just didnt offer enough , nothing to do with us being in 3rd Division , and players not wanting to play in this league.

I know I'm wasting my energy, as I've talked about it many times already...

But someone ought to tell Billy that, because he doesn't seem to think he wants to play in League One, no matter how many times people say it's nothing to do with it.

Well it's sorted now.

2yr contract at L**ds.

I don't feel a great sense of loss, in fact I'm not even a little bit disappointed.

He's had his chances with us and never delivered and he was a better player then.

Gutted he has signed for them lot up the M1. He's a blade after all...shows money talks

He's a footballer - he has to work for who pays him - don't see the problem
Blades are his team - it will never be otherwise - but that boat has sailed long ago.
We are shit and he plays at a higher standard, for now - he has to make it pay while he can - third division clubs cannot afford £9k per week for a striker that might perform - then again might fail a third time.

This ^^^^^^^

No idea what the Leeds manager has in store for him but, played to his SPECIFIC strengths, suspect he will be a big hit up there. Shame.

The L**ds chairman must like the name Billy.

I think sharp , would have been a good player to have along side the big lad up top ,
however I realise the limitations of our club in its current plight , ( 3rd div .)
High quality players who command good wagers will not be inticed into playing in this league for us ,
and if they do it's to regain fitness or put themselves in the shop window ,
2 / 3 seasons ago it was the two lads from Blackpool ,
Last season it was Coady and the Beard ,
When we get promoted this year I expect at least 4 players who played tonight v Mansfield to be shown the door ,
We will have a good team to work with in the league above ,with the youngsters having a year working together
I m not fooling myself that a few players will need to be brought in ,
But it should be easier with , bigger crowds , bigger teams and the ability to pay higher wages as a result .
UTB.

To be accurate, he's only ever been a hero at Scunny and perhaps Donny. Not done the business anywhere else on at least 5 occasions/moves

As for this latest move, I'm torn between wanting him to do well and being another dismal failure based on where he has ended up. Win:win would be for him to grab a few goals but the team to be desperately poor and end up fighting relegation, I guess.

Thank fuck for that, no need to give him to opportunity to fail here for a third time.

Sharp is far from the worst player I've seen play for the Blades, and he's not my least favourite Blades player by a long way...

But for me, his United career has been the most disappointing of my lifetime, in terms of what I thought and hoped he'd achieve and what he did achieve. That is not all his own fault, but there it is.

He tried far too hard at the Lane; hence him constantly finding himself offside. The pressure of wanting to do well at the Lane was perhaps too much.

That said, the hatrick against QPR was a fine moment and I personally think he would have scored a hatful had we brought him back.
