So obviously that means we should never even consider one ever again.
So equally the line that a foreign coach offers more just because they are foreign is just as nonsensical.
The key point is that our board appointed as a knee jerk response and on the cheap. Now, if you offered me Mourinho, I’d snap your hands off.

See the difference?

Absolutely not. I doubt anyone who opposed Wilder's sacking is against a foreign coach (or players) in principle.

It's a fact that we've recently had two foreign coaches whose teams have performed poorly and have been sacked during their first season. This implies that a lot more thought should go into the recruitment process.

Maybe but I had had mates predicting relegation after we appointed " cheap option" Hecky . Sometimes is just the right people at the right time .
Cheap option or masterstroke? Time will tell .

Exactly my point. The right option is the key.
At this point in our “development” and with the resources available it’s difficult to justify a radical change from a managerial style IMO (some will be surprised to learn). I’m content to have my club still be wound up in the DNA of its roots. If and when there is sufficient coin to actually plan and make the difference then I know that our club will become something else. Not sure I’m prepared for that, yet. It’s not like we support Dem Blades for the glory, is it? There’s summat else. Otherwise, as kids, we’d have been parading down Fargate in a Liverpool top or an Arsenal top 🤢🤮

We haven’t had a succession plan before since we’ve been hand to mouth since I stated going in the mid seventies. I can’t see it happening now, unless we do another Wilder 2018/19. The funds just won’t be available.

We’ve recently had one.
How did that turn out?

There was nothing wrong with Slavs appointment he took the job on a false promise and was subsequently
thrown under a bus

So why is the ramble on RS saying how poor the announcement was.
Might be partly down to everyone knowing this was happening weeks ago and they said nothing until now. Bit like how we all knew Wilder was getting sacked last year. Sums them up quite well. Not a big deal just shoddy like everything they do.

Do you think the board should be reacting to every bit of leaked information?

It was basically confirmed weeks ago. Someone who's given the club what he has deserves better. Prince was bad for it with Hecky as well

These things leak before they happen. Rohl leaving Rangers was leaked well before it was confirmed along with Derek McInnes leaving to takeover.

I would agree he deserves better, so it might have been nice if those "in the know" could have kept their respective traps shut until it was announced officially. There may have been some very specific reasons why it couldn't be announced until it was

Lasted 9 months at Watford (though got them promoted).
Lasted 1 year at Dynamo Moscow.
Been at Al-Nasr for a year so far.

Much like Ruben Selles career which has seen him never last more than 12 months as a manager.

Neither have progressed to set the world alight.
Was the football more exciting under foreign coaches?

Still there's thousands more to choose from - think foreign style progression - think Watford levels of success.

Appointing the right person is key, whether some on social media see a 'Bladey Blade' appointment as non progressive or not.
Where would be now without Wilder, back/still in division 3 playing Wendy next season?

If as fans we stopped arguing between ourselves as to how much better it 'could be' and got behind the staff and players, we might progress more.
We wouldn't have had the same level of success under Wilder without the fans united behind him/them.

Best wishes to Knilly for the future and thanks for some great memories.

Well done for replying to a point I didn’t actually make 😂

Come on Nick
You made the point that I was illustrating all foreign managers were crap so we shouldn’t venture down that path again because of recent, selective experience.
I was answering a post that said they don’t care what the manager is they just wan ta different style so a foreign manager will bring something different.
I made the point that the right person is the right person. Regardless of nationality.
Don’t dress it up for anything different.

An underrated and oft unsung hero, imo.

Thank you, Knilly, for your contribution to some of my happiest times as a Blade.

Two fantastic promotions, an unprecedented jaunt into the top half of the PL, and a day never 2-4 get!

I wish you all the best as you move on - you'll always get a warm welcome back at BDTBL.

Top man! 👏❤️⚔️

We won’t under Wilder unfortunately.

Other sides have appointed foreign managers other than Watford you know some have even been successful.
Didn’t your mate Wilder also fail at Watford.

Fewer than 15% of newly appointed EFL Championship managers achieve sustained success and remain with their appointing club over a full three-year cycle. Because of the intense pressure to reach the Premier League, average tenures have plummeted to just under nine months, making three-year success highly rare. [1, 2, 3]

Wilder out.

There's better out there - but the chances of finding him are like a lottery win.

Don't know his personal plans or his ambitions are moving forwards but if he wants a new contract he has this season to go out there and get it. Personally I am not a Mk2/3 Wilder fan. MK3 only happened due to the poor appointment of Selles, MK2 only really happened because the board screwed over Hecky. MK1 although ended on a sour note but should have ended there with the "legend status" he was at that point and a good solid handshake. There were other options other than Selles and nobody saw that happening until it was revealed and even by Match day 6, I still don't think anyone believed what was happening. The sensible option is to let Wilder see out his contract this season and re-evaluate in the summer of 2027, I don't think we will be a top 8 side, if we place 10th that will do. We need to have a takeover plan in place whether that's Wilder in a DoF style role at the club as the self proclaimed culture carrier or if that is without Wilder either way, from the turn of 2027 the board needs a plan.

The plan is for the board not to be here. Not going well with finding other mugs though. Maybe they should invite James Bord to bid.

Agree, up to sensible option. We should see where we are at Christmas imo not end of season. If a director of football is appointed he should be no where near the role, if he goes, he goes forever, otherwise he'll be here until he croaks, we need to move on if he doesn't succeed this year, despite the Salles sage.

100% agree. Once he is no longer our manager, cut ties completely and let a new manager/ coaching team come in and do their own thing. He will have more than had his time in the sun, and a good bit in the shade too, and we all move on.
If he can't let go, he should be be made to.
