Nice to see a new thread…
A year since Selles was appointed our manager. I think he lasted longer than a lettuce, but not by much!
I’d argue the lettuce would’ve got better results. That's his CV updated anyway!
you’d think reading would be a basic requirement as well?If your a club owner or chairman. Your going to notice that. And see that in those 5 years the best he did was do "not bad" at reading.
The Ipswich game will go down as one of the most Infamous in Blades history.
Cos it might have romained in post a little longer and become a little gem?I’d argue the lettuce would’ve got better results.
Two totally different gamesThe Ipswich game will go down as one of the most Infamous in Blades history.
Becoming the worst manager in the history of the club is quite an achievement.
My money is on another half dozen posts, before the first Wilder hater joins in.
TBH, I'm surprised a few of the more mouth foaming types, haven't tried to tell us that Selles was actually better.
Two totally different games
Ipswich, we were just crap and disorganised
PO Final, we bottled it. When we needed 'a proper Sheffield United performance' we didn't fancy it. Again.
But, at least Selles fronted the fans up with his team, rather than doing a disappearing act.

Why does the choice have to be so fucking binary?
Full disclosure here, I was on board with the Selles move, more of a gut feeling than evidence based really. It seemed clear that he was more of a fit for the way forward, the new way of doing things.
Truth is, it was a catastrophe. A change had to be made. Only 6 games yes, but the direction of travel was as clear as day.
I wasn’t on board with a Wilder return. His past record puts him amongst the very top echelon of our managers, certainly in my time.
But time catches us all up, it certainly has with me. Life changes, football changes. It just so happens, in my humble opinion, that COH, supposedly a group of successful people, have fumbled the changes needed.
To give Wilder his due, he did achieve what he was mandated to achieve upon his latest return.
He kept us up. Objective achieved.
Alan Knill, his trusted lieutenant, has left. Sad, but this change could refresh things, could refresh Wilder maybe?
It’s going to be a tough season ahead. Parachute payments stopped, the dross / quality ratio doesn’t fill me with optimism. Our appalling inability to keep players fit, a questionable at best recruitment policy are some of the challenges to be faced.
There can be no excuses now. No saying “but Selles”. It’s like blaming Covid for the country’s current ills. It’s bollocks basically. Time moves on, adjust, adapt, stop blaming things that are ancient history.
I think they want to evolve, they just have no idea what that’s going to look likePretty much matches my exact view, just because Selles was the wrong man doesn't mean only Chris Wilder can be the right man.
I will always adore Wilder for what he did up until March 2020, but whilst ever he's at the club we won't evolve (and maybe under these owners we won't be able to evolve either)
But he didn't do it playing entertaining football so he's shite.Sacking a manager who got 90 points after a significant rebuild was monumentally dumb.
He just got us thinking wtf is the bloke trying to do!I miss how Sellès would come over to the fans after another beating. He just got us
Yeah I much prefer my manager to run down the tunnel before the players when we lose.I miss how Sellès would come over to the fans after another beating. He just got us
Ye losing every single game is fine as long as you go to the fans afterYeah I much prefer my manager to run down the tunnel before the players when we lose.
I was fully behind Wilder out and still am.
If we are to ever to progress as a club we need to get out of the Bladey-Blade/brexit culture. Selles was a mistake, granted but everything since has been rinse and repeat, we are no further on than we were 3 years ago.
