He’s nowhere near a 20m player he’s bang average
Err , bang average can be expensive these days.
Depending on how you define bang average
Brewster wasn't even bang average when acquired as "one for the future"
For £20m+
And
He stayed below average for 5 years ,
Whilst earning £7.5m from dem Blades.
If we can't get £20m+ for a far more useful prospect than "Swansea flash in the pan" Brewster ,
It just goes to show that building our future on
"Successful player-trading"
Is pie in the sky.
Reading between the lines , I reckon the Prince (who knew a good prospect when he saw one - Ndiaye)
Would have cheerfully strangled Wilder for the Brewster deal.
And given Bettis a good bollocking for supporting it.
Somewhere between £27.5m & £30m
for a return of probably less than a 9-pack of toilet paper.
When our first PL season had been built on conceding an average of only 1 goal per game and JoC was clearly fucked and needed replacing.
That was our sliding-door moment and we got our bollox trapped as they closed.
