Knill gone?

Opportunity for some fresh ideas but full respect to Knilly - completely changed our style and we used to be good at set pieces!

Sharp needs more experience. Maybe an opportunity in the academy (here or elsewhere) before we start talking of assistant manager roles.

At least 50% responsible for the incredible run from 2016-(early) 2020. I wish him all the best, and will forever be grateful for what he's done here. I hope his replacement brings refreshment to the role, and we can kick on again. Thanks Alan, good luck and best wishes for the future.

Horrendous record to be fair, did well at Union though. Not massively into German football so no idea how St Pauli play.

Edit: just looked at their squad on transfer market, think they were the equivalent of us when we went up with Trusty etc to the premier league. Hardly surprising.

Ah, right, my bad - I erroneously thought people wanted a manager who'd been recently relegated and sacked, whereas, in fact, they want a manager who's been recently relegated and sacked AND has a "horrendous record". 🤦‍♂️

Why do some of our supporters hate their own club? 🤔

That won’t stop people start jumping to wild conclusions though.

I choose to see it as a positive move though, now, that is a step towards some level of modernisation in set up and approach.

Knill been a great servant to the club now and should be well remembered by our fans. GLTTL etc.
Good call crookes blade.Danny Hall coming out with this statement just opens up a can of worms .
He should remember he get tit bits of news from whoever and calling out the owners and possibly CW with vague news on Knilly wont help him if the reason for him leaving is his decision.
Just wait for direct news from the club or Wilder.previouse Star reporters have burnt there boats coming out with news which is far from the truth.

He kept St Pauli up in his first season, which is no mean feat. The equivalent to keeping United up with the squad that Hecky/Wilder had last time.

What's this "horrendous record" Danetheblade referenced, then?

Also, one of the reasons people say they want a new manager, is that they don't want to "tread water" - keeping a club up is treading water.

Surely we want a manager who can get promotion, rather than someone who can just keep a club up (tread water), because we're not in the "tread water" division we want to be in, at the moment - we've got to get there, first. 🤷‍♂️

They have been planning and reviewing for a good few months now, supposedly, if you are going to change the coaching staff the very latest it should be done is the end of the season, not a month later

These things take time! Getting it right is more important than rushing it.A knee jerk reaction is the last thing we want ! It should be all about planning after last seasons shannanigans !

TBF to Wilder, and I don't say that often, when he went the 1st time he recommended Steve Cooper as his replacement. With the way the squad was built at the time he would have been the perfect replacement and, without going down this route again, if we had a DOF in place I'm sure they would have recommnded him as well.

Instead we went for Slav without giving him the players suited to the way he plays and we all know what happened. Sound familiar??

Copper then went to Forest and took them up. And kept them up albeit after they spent an absolute fortune.
Cooper's just been sacked by Brondby after a car crash of a season.

Most apparently good, highly-rated managers have shit seasons eventually - as we have experienced with appointments like Adkins, Micky Adams and Selles.

I bet there were lots of Brondby fans who thought persuading Cooper to come to Copenhagen last year was a major coup.

This doesn't mean that Cooper has suddenly become a shit manager. Even the top managers can't be successful every season.

When do you think the end of the contract period will be? I think end of June is always a cut off point

Just because announcements are made in June doesn't mean that decisions aren't made and people aren't informed before that.

End of the season retained lists are only released after the play offs aren't they? The players will have known prior. Contracts of players run until end of June i believe, i'd imagine that coaching staff are also the same.

I mean, I don’t get the attitude personally.

His record is just over 21% win ratio, mostly losses.

I’m all in for a new manager, take a look at my previous posts. I’ve stopped going because the football we play is absolutely dour.

If you think last season was "dour" you should have been around 25 years ago when Warnock changed things for the better! But not overnight!

Ohh! My mistake Sean, I can’t actually see Wilder agreeing to anyone else outside Knill (with them working together for so long) so it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.. maybe COHs’ way of forcing his hand/pushing him out.

Spineless if that’s their plan.
It's all getting a bit silly now isn't it... You can tell it's the off season and we're all a bit bored!

If they wanted to get rid of him why would they come with some machivelian plot like this? They'd just sack him like they did 12 months ago! And on that theme, if they wanted rid, they'd have just sacked the whole lot of them.

I meant more the past couple of seasons Finaly, I can barely remember those days (as I’m 31). Can inly go on the here and now, the footballs shite to watch.

Its nonsense speculation. Nobody knows the details of the shake up. So i'll speculate too

Wilder may have said when he came in that he'll bring in the guys he knows for this season, with some additions like Ramos.

From the summer, look to change things, look to freshen things.

Ramos may have only been a season long appointment, Knill may want to spend more times with the Wales set up.

None of us know, but it sounds positive to freshen things up

What attitude do you mean you don't get? The attitude of people who want Blessin, or the attitude of people who don't understand why anyone would want someone with Blessin's horrendous record?

Edit - that's a genuine question, btw. Now I've posted it, it sounds like I'm having a dig - I'm not. I'm genuinely unclear on which of those attitudes you mean you don't get?

Was the “what’s this horrendous record referenced” comment. Came across a bit arsey (I had just woken up though so I might being a sensitive Susan) haha.

Ah, right. It wasn't meant to be arsey. It was a genuine query about Blessin's record, and why you called it "horrendous". Presumably the low win ratio?

Pretty much, that being said, the squad he has is the equivalent to ours during the relegation season in the premier league. Really bad.
