BBD would be completely inappropriate. Tried before and was unable to make any difference to the performances
then, so why return for another dose of ineffective football.
In his defence he was brought in at a time where he’d got no match fitness.

This is the sort of player we’ll be in for. You can’t really say McBurnie was slamming them in before going to Hull.

It will be players who you hope can do it again but with us having had a downturn. Or players unproven.

Until there are serious changes in the structure at the club we’ll continue to be linked with everyone who’s ever played with us.

We’ve obviously got a very limited scouting department with a very specific list of criteria.

Going to be a loooong summer with a load of old names regurgitated over and over again. On the other hand there’s also no point in worrying about it until the squad is finalised and we know what we’re working with. Like him or not, Wilder will put together an unimaginative but competitive side, unlikely to have much resale value / future potential but effective.
Don’t agree re your comment about our scouting department, they must be fantastically awesome to manage to find such a pile of utter crap from within a limited pool of , wait for it , professional athletes

I’d have BBD back - no problem , compared to some of our recent recruits he is Gordon class

Sorry to pick you up on this but I was curious so looked it up - Peck joined United July 2021, so Wilder likely had no involvement in bringing him to the club. Probably more whoever had responsibility for the academy at the time - Heckingbottom? Geary?
Apparently it was Wilder who sorted the deal out:

Which of all the 'players' we signed last summer fell into that category?

I think BBDs career has been killed by being played out wide. With the 4-2-3-1, it's a huge asset to have another striker who can play wider, so I understand the temptation, given he started his career in wider roles. But apart from that one season at Blackburn, when he bagged a lot of long distance strikes, I think he is at his best in the box, a really hungry aggressive presence, hunting for goals. His best form was for us in the Prem, when he played down the middle or for Chile, where he often plays as a conventional striker. I can see what other players, like Hamer can offer from that sort of wide/inside forward role....but I just dont see what BBD offers in those areas, apart from his ability to sometimes get another body into the box.
