I don't know if anyone noticed (or I'm late) but at some point the club updated our crest. It features a white stroke, more even proportions, simplified handles on the blades and neater typography (nicer writing).

The new badge first appeared on our 2012-13 macron kit.

Above I've attached a comparison of the old implementation and the new version. Curious to see if anyone even noticed there was a change.

Does anyone remember the track suit, late 80's I think which had a red rose

Imagine the furore if they tried that today !

S11Blade - i mentioned this in the kit thread when people were talking about "making their own" shirts with knock off Malaysian badges. Don't think anybody realised we've had a white border around for some time now.

I can't wait to see people in their home-made shirts that look like something they bought from a beach shop in Benidorm.

Confused! They are both 'new' badges, and below is the 'old' badge. Which was great

Even that is a relatively new one. We used to have the City coat of arms.
On Rothman's Football Yearbook and other football handbooks in the early 1970s they had our crest as the one SEB posted on the SUFC profile but our shirts had the coat of arms. Rather confusing! When we first had the present crest in 1977 then there was no confusion

Why does it have the English flag and the stripes of Bradford City and Crystal Palace in the badge ...
The red and yellow stripes are the colours of Catalonia.

Were they founded by an English person?

St. George is the patron saint of Catalonia.

I imagine BOS was being facetious mentioning Bradford and Palace but just incase...

The Yellow/Red stripes is the flag of Catalonia.
The english flag is the flag of St. George
The blue/red stripes are Barcelona's colours.

I remember after England played Spain in Madrid and all the racist chants were aimed at our black players, one of the english clubs played Barcelona the following week and Barcelona fans held up boards showing the St. George flag on one stand, the catalonia flag on the other and the words "Catalonia is not Spain".

They do this quite often and many see themselves as Catalans not Spaniards. I know a lady who lives in Barcelona and she "claims" she didn't cheer when Spain won the World Cup. Apparently it's a massive thing around that area of Spain. They want independance.

Valencia are also Catalans and both Barca and Valencia have been known to have "Catalan kits"
