Our parachutes finished last season we are super skint now
To be fair I think we are just regular Championship club skint. We won’t be able to afford the big wages and will have to sell before acquiring but realistically we weren’t going to challenge the top 2 of West Ham/Spurs and Burnley/Wolves and then our record in the playoffs speaks for itself it could have a 16 team playoff and we still wouldn’t win it.

This is where our owners need to pull weight.

I did hear a couple of months ago that we're working on a significant shirt sponsor deal for next season. Won't be United Airlines levels, but should be significantly bigger than Village Hotels and Midnite

Finally getting Visit Malta back on the shirts.

This is better than the daft previous checking;

The new system calculates compliance in real time based exclusively on current turnover, revenues, and allowable spending ratios rather than relying on previous historical numbers. This is the huge bit rather than the limits themselves and I for see some problems for clubs. Revenues are to an extent unpredictable, club does well attendances rise, on TV more raises more revenue and increases advertising revenue but a club having a poor season will see its revenues worsen for the opposite reasons. But costs are not easily changed, especially squad costs as they are determined by contracts signed. Over time I think that player wages will fall and contracts, become shorter and more flexible in terms. I am surprised that the players union are not objecting because of this.

Cup runs become more important as they are a means to raise more revenue. That could be good, if we get good draws.

You realise that:

a) The prize money we would have won if we had made the quarter finals this year wouldn't even pay the wages for one week?
b) If we drew Liverpool away, and they charged the same prices for us as they did when they played Brighton in the Cup this year (which they might not, they might make it cheaper), sold every seat in the house (which they probably would) only to full paying adults (which they won't) and moved every seat in the stadium to the main stand where it is most expensive (which they can't), what we would make would barely reach seven figures?

I used to love the ad for The Hat Shop 😄 Asterix & Space, Rob G. Great days.
Yesssss.
I've still got a cassette I did: I think the DJ was Damage; whoever the MC was a little too chemically refreshed and he just started going on about this pigeon that was staring at him from outside the window. Magic stuff.

I must have a few tapes in the loft. Hopefully they haven't disintegrated. Lots of SCR tape uploads on YouTube.

SCR might help to reduce the eye watering losses that all EFL clubs are currently making, helping the game to be more sustainable. That’s a good thing, if it works.

At the same time, it will have the effect of widening the gaps between richer and poorer clubs: those with more income will be able to spend more. It will be harder for clubs with lower incomes to catch up. Overall I would think, as one of the bigger championship clubs, we’ll be moderate beneficiaries of that. It will certainly make it harder for us to compete with clubs with parachute payments, but in turn it will be harder for smaller clubs to catch us because they’ll be allowed to spend less than us.

I didn’t know that owners can put 10m in to invest into first team for transfers etc so that’s a boost

Meanwhile in the Premier League.....

This is what annoys me. The authorities make rules but don't have clear punishments for breaking those rules. Is it really that difficult to say a one point deduction for every million over the £10m and every percentage point over the 85% every month a club is over.
