He’s in debit if you include the FA Cup. He got one when we lost 3-2 at Norwich in the 5th round, and also got the winner for Southend in our 2-1 defeat there. He scored for us at Northampton on the day of the Hillsborough disaster.

We had one disallowed for offside. The Linesman was from Lincoln, Bert saw him that night in an alcoholic refreshment establishment.

Weird that he stuck in my memory then as I didn't attend any of those games (I used to work Saturday morning). Maybe he was just my favourite scapegoat at the time.
