Goes to show how top 6 (or 8) any season can be possible if you have a decent season.

We have finished 13 PTS short in the end of 6th. Only 5 or so matches worth of points we needed to improve upon over the course of the season.

Were also 13 PTS clear off relegation. We are slap bang mid table.

It could have been alot worse than this finish. It could have been better too.

We've finished where we've deserved too though. Least we ain't going down.

After 6 games we would have taken this final position in a heartbeat. It feels disappointing as at one point it looked like we could make the play offs.

Despite the inconsistencies we have the basis of a decent team. Assuming Peck and Hamer go we have the following first 11
Cooper
Seriki 2 new CBs McAllum
Brooks Rothwell Jairo new LW
OHare
Bamford

Reserves Davies, Blaster, Burrows, Tanganga, McGuiness Cannon, One

If we can get some proper CBs in and a flare LW we will be there or thereabouts. We need another big CF (cd be One) to back Bamford up and reserve RBs CMs

I had radio Derby on driving south and they were very complimentary about our second half play....especially Chong ( maybe they will sign him!)...and hey thought we would be up there next season

I really hope we aren’t playing Rothwell and Jairo as the first choice CM. The rest I agree with.

No way we should be letting Peck go, we should do the same Boro did with Hackney and put a silly valuation on him.

I think the leagues been quite average this year and I would expect Derby & Hull to both fare worse next season. Millwall are going to rue missing out on 2nd by a point for a long, long while I think. The 3 coming down are going to be hugely favoured to go straight back up and I do think all 3, whether it's Spurs or Wet Spam, will be up there.

7th & 8th getting a play off spot now is the obvious wildcard. A large number of sides will fancy that for sure, January is going to be a chaotic window.

We have a lot to do transfer wise and I would put us behind almost every club who would be competing for those spots. Let's see how that goes!

At least we know what division we’re in so work can start on team building - no need to think about the outcome of play offs.

Danger is he throws his toys out of the pram. He will want to try the PL at some point and for all we know he may be at his maximum valuation now.

Wonder which ones those 5 games might have been?
And the 3-4 just after the meal of malaise was scoffed.

Why would he? Another season with us should be good us and him and I'd gamble his value will increase.
Again very similar situation with Hackney who Boro will get big money for if they don't go up.

Middlesbrough (Like their chairman)
Stockport (Away ground to tick off + Norwood)
Chesterfield (Local, decent fans)
Rochdale (Just because of their final day agony).

Why would he....errr firstly cus he wants to secure his future and tie down the 60k a week he will likely get paid in the PL, secondly hes a Londoner and its a chance to move back home and Thirdly because his agent will be pushing him to.
The real question is why wouldn't he?

Whilst I agree with the agent, the level and the wages, not so certain about the draw of London. He was in some proper shit in the capital before he moved and the move up North did him the world of good, for his career, his state of mind, and getting him back into the mix with good people.
He’ll be sold this close season because we need the tranny kitty.

Nothing to do with the fact that we’ve won 9, drawn 3 and lost 9 since the start of the year then eh?

Us being 19th in the form table over the past ten is entirely the doing of Selles and has no absolutely bearing on the current coaching team.

Finished one point above the relegation zone last season and one took it to the final day and another made it into the play offs this year.

We finished 13 points clear.

Basically we are going to win the league. Right?
1. If we also change manager as well to someone less bad
2. If the League stays 20% lower standard than the previous worst ever of the previous season.
3. If we don't drop our budget by £30 million at the end of the squandered parachute payments.

Hint none will happen and 1 definitely has too as we should have won the league last season and been in the playoffs weeks ago.
Note also Hull only won yesterday with an offside goal and a rival for the worst ever penalty taken actually goal bound rather than wide or high or not reaching goal.
Also Millwall have not looked back since some cretins at the Lane thought the none playing Tanganga was a footballer not a dozing, bad tempered clown of a player.
The first Captain to make the Titanic Captain look like a success.
Great selection again by the Fuhrer.
ps Perhaps our pre season tour will be into Russia and be a similar turning point.
That being said with Milliband in charge we could have no power, the season abandoned and defeat will be the least of our worries as we literally freeze and starve to death.
IF ONLY

I'm extremely sorry but I made an oath to ignore anyone saying Dean Saunders is a good manager

Hull had a decent season and I think we’re fairly consistent all year, weren’t they?

Derby were down near us when we sacked Selles, I think. They found some consistency as well

That was the key this season for us

Blank slate after Selles then?
No hangover?
All should be as though both f happened and morale wasn’t on the floor.
The excuse that the stats show a poor performance in 2026 is still a result of the disastrous close season and the pile of crap in the squad. It had nothing to do with tactics and all to do with the sub standard players and their sub standard mental toughness.

The main point is he's under contract until 2028, so it's up to us whether he goes or not.
He doesn't seem the type to down tools

Or it could be that both were factors. With the hangover from shitting the bed in 24/25 an additional factor.

Why's it have to be one end of the scale or the other? If the Wilder fan boys cant see that hes had 40 games to sort this out and that the vast majority of players in the squad are 'his players' then they are more blind than I thought. And thats from somebody who wants him to stay and who is actually a bit more optimistic about next season than many on here!

I hope u r right bake, this is a no lose for us. We either bank a lot of money or we've got a very good, young midfielder with another years experience in our engine room
