Can't believe that so many are throwing their toys out of the pram because we didn't get promotion this season.

I didn't expect Wilder to get us promoted this season but the play offs did look really doable at one point.

Exactly, had we won that match we’d have been above Wrexham in the table. Given that Wrexham are currently 6th on 70 points with a squad that is no better than ours, I fail to see how anyone can suggest that the playoffs were never a possibility.

At least re-appointing Wilder stopped any stupid point-scoring about where we'd have finished if someone other than Wilder had replaced Selles.

I'm pretty sure if we were in the exact same position we are in now with somone else in charge many people would be saying "should have re-appointed Wilder, board messed up again. Most of these are his players and achieved 92 points last season don't you know. We'd have been in the playoffs at least. Look at Southampton and Norwich."

I agree. Expectations are far higher these days across English football and consequently the turnover of managers is much higher.

When I first started watching football a finish of mid-table in the second tier wouldn't have triggered calls for the manager to be sacked. It would have been seen as an okay season. Like most other clubs we didn't get promoted but we didn't get relegated either.

How many seasons did we finish mid-table under Warnock before we finally went up? He finally got it right after five or six seasons in the second tier without promotion.

This demand for instant success reflects today's impatient society. We want instant gratification and if we don't get it, something needs to change.

If you are classing below mid table it was only twice which was the Dec-May of his 1/2 a season of his time in charge where he saved us from relegation for a 16th place finish and again in 2001/02 where we finished 13th. We finished 8th twice and 10th once along with 3rd (triple assault season) and 2nd and we weren't exactly breaking the bank on signings either.

The six games from 8th November to 9th December was our best run of the season.

Table after 10 games. 5 for Selles, 5 for Wilder. It’s a six point gap to Southampton, a few weeks ago people were tipping us to catch that last play off spot with a 7-9 pt gap to make up.

I can understand why there is a view to give him more time because he’s not doing a terrible job, he’s done ok.

If he was 40 matches in and hadn’t managed at the club before I think there would be a bit more patience. But 10 years at the club off and on, there is a lot of Wilder fatigue.
