Have heard from a close source that we have been sniffing around Ben Sheaf. He's currently injured, but if Wilder stays in the summer, then he wants him in the middle of the park. He seems a good defensive midfielder, can play a pass but his injury record worries me.
Not sure how much he is valued at!?
He has a good pedigree coming through Arsenal. Seems to have a lot of championship experience!
If this is true, then seems we are offloading a CM!

If hes injured a lot, he'll fit right in, and better still when fit can only last 60mins 😊

Probably nailed on, Wilders wanted him for years.

Been linked with him a few times so wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

I’ve got negative head on with United at the moment but this just seems such boringly predictable link. Injury concerns and no real upgrade on our current options.

Yawn

Coventry haven’t exactly missed him have they. We shoudl have signed Grimes when he left Swansea instead.

We brought in Phillips and Rothwell on loan, Reidewald has had some injuries, Davies is never fit, Blaster struggling to start. So, its not so much that we are looking to offload but get a player in that will either start the game alongside Peck or finish the game without getting sent off or injured or tired.

Rothwell is perm isn’t he?

Yep, 18m contact on an ‘undisclosed fee’

Said same when Cov was first linked with him. Crazy for us not to have gone for Grimes for how much he cost them.

Current midfielders you’d be confident will be here to start next season. Blaster, Rothwell, O’Hare, Reidewald

Phillips out end of loan
Soumare out end of loan
Hamer out a likely sale to cut costs
Peck out a likely sale to raise funds
Davies out of contract.
Matos out likely sold if a buyer can be found

Makes sense in light of the above that we’d look to add one or two into that room. If Sheaf is one then we could do with the other being a younger player as that would be quite an experienced injury prone group so a younger fitter player would be good. Plus we’ll be back into the needing to trade to generate revenue bucket so we need to be getting back into the purchasing players on the up, developing and selling on pattern rather than paying big fees and wages for finished articles.

Yep, I think we were linked quite heavily with him with Norwood was on his way out. Shame.
When you think of the plsyers we could hsve hsd last summer for the same price we've spent overall on that dross we brought in. Then you realise the gross mismanagement thats gone on in our recruitment team alway up to bettis.

Yeah it leaves us very light with Blaster, Rothwell and Reidewald for CM. I don’t include O’Hare as he’s more AM.

Peck will have to command a decent fee to go.

Player just signed and playing regularly for another club.

Okay...
Only way I see it is if Wrexham go up and spend big again and he's knocked down the pecking order. Can't see us spending anything like the fee they paid though and with 2 years left very unlikely. The knee injury just moves this even further down the no chance pile.

I wanted him about 3 years ago and we ended up with Hamer instead for 3× the price of what we could have got Sheaf for. Classic Wilder though to go back to an old target who's probably peaked and is now on the slide due to injuries. Will fit right in in the treatment room on 25 bags a week.

Got to get Jairo to agree terms, if I was Wilder I presume he has Jairo in his plans for next season, I would be pushing the board on that. We want him tied down before there is a potential for other clubs to come sniffing like what was happening with Bamford before he agreed the 18 month deal. I would hope with Jairo at least a 2 or 3 year deal given his age.

I believe we already have a 12 month extension option on him for next season.

Already 28 with 150+ Championship appearances. Will not be on cheap wages, will already have peaked, and will never get a better contract with this one. I'm out, and don't come crying to me after 2-3 seasons when we "lose him for nothing" if he does come here
