Bloody hell I’m far from wilder’s biggest fan but some on this thread have properly lost their heads.

Wilder derangement syndrome is the United version of Wendy mentality. Of course a fair few of the WDS lot are pigs which would be fine if they weren't so shit (and boring) at trolling. Nobody has ever broken a fan base like Wilder has the pigs and it really shows 😎🎣

Your opinion is rubbish. A proper blade will show Sir Chris Wilder respect. So why dont you bugger off and concentrate,
On your team, it is obvious you are a big fan. Get on your way to the stadium of rust in the dog and duck league.

I just find the anger towards "mediocrity" weird.

Yes, we want the best for this team, and yes we want players to bust a gut. Some of the reactions when we don't do well and the "scape gating" of players baffles me.

Remembering just 10 short years ago and where we have come from, those who think we should be challenging for promotion every single year over estimate where we are in the standing of things.

I like that CW says we should consistently be in the top 25 teams of the country, I agree. Being in the top 30 doesn't suddenly become abject failure and make certain players unworthy of the shirt.

Most teams, most seasons, are going to finish midtable in one of the lower divisions, and for most of our history we've usually been one of them. Nowt wrong with that in my book, having been around for the late 90s and early 00s when we were an utterly forgettable second-tier side. Ironically the main reason a certain subset of fans don't think that's good enough any more is because of the job Wilder v1.0 did in 2016-2020. Talk about making a rod for your own back.

10 short years ago?

The speed with which some of the anti-Widers throw their toys out of the pram, suggests 10 minutes is a stretch for them.

Remember how WBA was the worst ever game in the history of football, until it wasn't. Norwich definitely was..... .....for now.

The reason that some are concerned is that there are many parallels to that period 10-15 years ago that got us into that position happening right now.

Not saying for a moment that we're anywhere near that point yet, but as West Brom have shown this season it's very easy to find yourself on that path.

Losing 4-2 Shrewsbury still sticks in my head (and throat) and will for a long time!

For me, it’s nothing to do with how we’ve performed since the 90s, it’s the performance of other clubs that makes me want better for our club.

There will be a variety of reasons why other clubs have had success and we haven’t but when clubs like Swansea, Wigan and Palace can win a major trophy, I find it hard to accept that United can’t as well. Clubs like Brentford, Bolton and Bournemouth can have long stints in the Premier League, but United can’t.

So why as a fan base should we be happy to accept mediocrity? Or be labelled as entitled when we want better? I just want us to aim for the best we can be, not constantly settle.

We should stop having an attitude of all we’ll be is Sheffield United, a midtable Championship club that occasionally flirts with the Premier League and never wins a trophy! We can be better than that and other similar sized/smaller clubs have proven it.
