It seems to me after watching hundreds of penalties over the years that if the keeper goes the right way, 50% chance of that, that unless it is in the corner he has a great chance of saving it. Whereas if the same penalty is lifted so it’s in the top third of the goal (aka Harry Kane) then the keepers chances are vastly reduced. And the chance of scoring is increased.
So why do players constantly go for the low corner shot, with the ultimate greater risk of failure? Answers on a postcard to ……..
