Derby day acid attack rumour?

I do wonder to what level a police escort actually encourages it. People are a lot more brave on all sides when they know they can do and say things consequence free. I sit quite near the away end, and enjoy the banter etc as much as anyone, but you see a lot of 20 somethings gesturing to each other to fight outside knowing they're never actually going to get anywhere close to each other. You predictably see a lot less on Bramall Lane after the match, where both sets of fans can quite freely mix.
There's no way of telling who anyone supports if they don't wear colours. The few times I've been to their place I've had no problems without colours. It's very easy to pass for one of them if you are challenged. I agree that escorting them en-masse just makes things worse. Police should be on hand in case big mobs (herds in their case) form, but the police shouldn't be instrumental in creating a big mob

I don't remember so much pushing and shoving on Bramall Lane prior to previous Derby matches - but maybe I just didn't happen to be there at the right time. I walked from town and turned into New Era Square at about 11. There were a group of Blades at the Bramall Lane end waiting (presumably for Wed fans to appear). We went in the Lykke Bar and left at about 11.30 with the intention of walking along Bramall Lane to the South Stand turnstiles.
It was obvious there was a large contingent of Wed fans walking along Bramall Lane with Blades fans to either side with police and a horse in between keeping them apart. It was incredibly congested and there were a few drinks cans being thrown - from both sides - the liquid smelling of beer to me, I received a few splashes but nothing worse.
At the Cricketers there were Blades fans walking the other way, lots of pushing and shoving but no aggro amongst Blades (that I saw). At this point I decided enough was enough and turned up John Street and did a circuit to get to the South Stand turnstiles.
I couldn't work out whether the Wed fans had purposely marched en masse or whether they'd been coralled by the Police.
Whatever caused this, it could have led to a very ugly situation and I've been to plenty of Derby matches (primarily Wed and Leeds) over the past 60+ years.
As for acid - I think urine is more probablethey
wednesday fans meet on west street and walk down st mary's every derby game at the lane but the antics no different to what wednesday fans do at swillsbro and swillsbro corner they cant complain when they do it to us

Reminds me of a game at the Lane in the late 60's when I said to my brother can you smell vinegar?
It was on the kop and I think we were playing Wed, it turns out it was acid that had been thrown by a united fan, fir a while Shoreham Street kop was often called 'the acid end'

I saw a video a few weeks ago of Charlton and Millwall fans trying to attack each other through a metal gate. When the gate was open, predictably, no one wanted to know.

Sorry to say but it did happen and a song was sung on the kop after to the Leapy Lee song Little Arrows which was changed by us to drops of acid.
"Drops of acid on your clothing drops of acid in your hair.
When you're on Shoreham Street you'll find that acid everywhere
Drops of acid that would hit you once and hit you omce again
Drops of acid that hits everybody every now and then
Oh oh oh the pain. 35 seconds into vid.

When you get pushed over that easy, anything and everything is a serious assault

Ahh, this must be the Wendy disabled supporters branch leading the way…Or was is the pregnant women’s branch, can’t be sure with such a tight police cordon.
