Thanks for posting!

Just an update on this for those considering going. Think this would be the first opportunity for fans to ask questions of a member of the board in person for a while (2019/20 season?), not including the Football Heaven phone-ins that Bettis has been on.

"I don't know anything about James Bord"

"I am just an accountant"

"I think LudlamBlade is still stalking me."

Enjoyed that. Thought the FAB members all spoke well and it was interesting to learn a little more about them. Liked how the Q&A was structured and it was a stark contrast to the last time I attended something similar when we were in League One and McCabe was trying to worm out of giving a straight answer to even the simplest of questions. Bettis even had the courtesy to walk up to the stage instead of slithering 🙂

Plenty of positives to take from the evening but also an acknowledgement of the challenges that are coming out way. Bettis said that this coming season will be the first time in 8 years that we're a "proper Championship club" in terms of funding, because we've either been a Premier League club or a Championship club with parachute payments (obviously this doesn't include us potentially going up this season should a miracle occur). He also mentioned the upcoming revamp of FFP/PSR, which I wasn't aware of. Squad Cost Ratio (according to Bettis) sounds like it could make it even more difficult to challenge at the top if you don't have a decent amount of revenue coming in, but I'm not sure how it really differs from the previous regulations.

He didn't allude to a firesale in the summer but repeatedly spoke about relying on the academy. Let's hope it keeps producing as it has and that we can get it to Cat 1.

Touched on the commitment of the owners but that there was a bit of disconnect between what works in US sports vs. what works over here. Seems to be a learning process for them.

Club are in favour of the proposed changes to the Championship playoffs from next season.

You know what. I've always liked Bettis. Don't get the stick towards him.

As he said tonight, how many owners address the fans unless the club is in crisis? He's done it loads

Did he say anything about the u,s owners looking for further investment and the reported late payments to former owner the Prince for the purchase of sufc ! .

This bit worries me.

Our recruitment has been subpar for years and scrapping barrel with recruiting fodder and other clubs cast offs.. thats with parachute money & being in the Premier league, we've also not been prepared to gamble on giving big wages out to attract the better players / free agents.

Its also more of a worry the task at hand with what will be a pretty much turn over of the squad - another rebuild is on the cards.

Seems like Wilder will have to go full del boy mode and be wheeling & dealing.

That might have been the case in the past but these days we do pay big wages by Chanpionship standards. Whether we are paying them to the right players is a different matter.
