Please Chris can we stop fucking about with full back selection from now on

When we play Seriki and McCallum we're a top 6 side with the two best athletes on the pitch.

When we don't we're bottom 6 fodder.

Please stop fucking about.

McCallum is becoming undroppable, the difference when we play Seriki and him versus the other options is huge.

I know Wilder referenced Seriki along with Brooks post match as “hardly being able to walk” early last week but I’d rather start them and swap them at half time. Seriki has nowhere near the same impact as a sub so we need to play to his strengths and if he’s knackered just bring him off rather than on.

Probably the most surprising development of the season, especially McCallum

If we can keep these 2 together next season it might give us a chance
I'd go as far as to say if by some miracle we were to get promoted to the PL, they're the only two players we currently have who Is be comfortable with being able to adapt to that level.

When has he fucked about with them? He seems to manage them well most of the time.

The reason they played well today is because they were managed.

For me Burrows isn't good enough defensively, he gives the wingers too much space but that's probably because his positional play isn't good enough. I noticed v Southampton where he was stood in a position where the winger could just easily cut inside and Burrows looked totally lost.

He's great going forward mind when on form.

McCallum is having a decent season.
Burrows had a fantastic season last season.
McCallum has the raw physical traits to be a PL player. Reminds me of Bogle in a lot of ways.

Burrows is slow, weak and athletically poor. He's technically decent, but in 2025 his physicality gives him a ceiling of mid Championship.

Burrows looks like a wingback to me. Height is a big thing in the game. You can cover for it in a three, it's more difficult in a two. You can see teams using the diag from the keeper orr defender when Burrows starts. Invariably he drops as he can't meet it a d consistently extinguish it ala McCallum.

He was team of the year last season, wasn’t he?
Hamer was player of the season and is only just breaking into our best XI....

You can't deny we look exponentially better with McCallum and Seriki at FB and I'm struggling to see why Wilder keeps reverting back to Burrows and is reluctant to give Seriki the props he deserves....

On paper, Hoever and Burrows are very good options when needing to rotate. It's up to those players to push for the shirt when called upon. We've had squad players in the past who, in my opinion, now have hero status. The squad needs managing and everyone needs to do their part when called upon.

Seriki- Good championship player, very good going forward (though would struggle under more structured PL managers) and rapidly improving defensively. Stable on the ball. I don’t see his ceiling as above us tbh.

Hoever- Just joined but on the evidence of his career an average championship plodder.

McCallum- Solid and dependable. I’m not a massive fan. He doesn’t start for a top championship team.

Burrows- I think he’s had a bad year but last year was a top championship player who looked destined for the premier league. He should still get there. I think we’ve under-utilised his attacking capabilities massively, his time on the wing at Peterborough has meant he has exceptional nous going forward.

Yes Hamer as player of the season and Burrows was in the EFL team of the year. That’s no small achievement. We’re clearly a different side now and we’ve been fucked over with terrible recruitment, had to adapt, players lose form, but that shouldn’t diminish from the quality of players like Burrows.

See who made the EFL Team of the Season line-ups - The English ...

Wilder has got the best out of many players and proved last season with an incredible season that he really knows how to manage players over a season.

Seriki and McCallum have done well because they’ve been managed.

Wilder himself expressed frustration with ‘noise’ this week when Brooks had put so much into the game at Charlton that he was hobbling on Monday. This is how players get managed. I know you know this. This is why we’re always a fit side over the season compared to other clubs and like last season, today we managed players incredibly well in a 3 game week

You can see why we occasionally play Burrows, you just refuse to accept the reason.

McCallum gave the ball away plenty today, was dodgy in possession but excellent out of it. By miles out best left back this season, and starts every game unless there is the need to rotate. The same happened last season when Burrows was occasionally rotated out for McCallum.
