Outgoing? Hamer

Personally I wouldn't be so keen to get rid in January.
We all know that he has quality and in this division amongst the best midfielders around. He's struggled for form this season, but then again so has the whole team.
Needs a goal or some good assists to get his confidence back a bit. Was unfortunate against Hull not to score.

However I do see the merit if we have pulled ourselves away from the relegation zone but not feeling too optimistic for playoffs that cashing in could be an idea.

Having said this, however doubtful this is. (Mainly because I reckon he does fancy a move back to Holland for family reasons) if he was open to extending his contract then why would we cash in then?

We've got so used to our key players getting into the last year of the contract and being sold. Or even running it completely down that we are forgetting that it's also possible for players to extend their stay. Unlikely in this instance because I do feel that come January or the summer he will be somewhere in Holland or close too.

This injury, assuming it isn't too serious could be the best thing that happens to him. He looks like he needs a break. Let's hope he comes back with a fire in his belly

Hamer should've tried to get booked on Saturday while eating his balti pie in the stand to serve his 1-game suspension for getting 5 yellows. You know that when he does come back, he'll get booked in his first game and be suspended.

Can't see it happening. Great player, but he'll be 29 and as much as I love Gus, he doesn't exactly look after himself like most athletes do! Would try and get rid in January, and get as much money out of Leeds as possible.
They said in the summer they had a load of money to spend to try and keep them up. Although a long way to go given the current standings if they are around just above the relegation zone, I think they will have a splurge. Although I haven't seen much of Leeds this year and unsure where Gus would fit into their plans/formation as they seem to play a 4-3-3 so it would be either on the left or centre mid, is he good enough especially coming off the back of an injury of however many weeks? Time will tell, but we will have to replace or at least strengthen elsewhere, their last minute bid in Aug/Sept was supposedly either a £2mill up front with a deal of £13mill on the cards or some form of swap deal with Joel Piroe. If that offer was in January, I could see us taking it as he does have form (not a like for like swap) but as a 10, he is a 1 in 3 at worse at Championship level (73 goals in 181 games (Swansea and Leeds)). Could easily slot into the formation and we have cover if Hamer did go.

Hasn't his missus gone back to Holland and taken their son with her? If so I could definitely see him returning there in January if we can get a decent fee..

If true, it's no wonder his hearts not in it this season.

That's hard for anybody.

Feel sympathetic that he didn't get his move to Holland this Summer.

Forget how much he's paid, that's hard for anybody. Nothing comes before your kids.

He must've had his heart set on it because I understand the issues you speak of were around during the Summer.

He should have played 1 minute got booked then subbed off. 😄

Scarlett Johansson once offered £25m to me to sleep with her. I was mulling over the idea (thinking of asking for some extra dirty foreplay to be chucked into the deal to sweeten it more for me) when the transfer broke down after I woke up. Bloody annoying that too and i still kick myself for not sealing the transfer quickly (maybe subconsciously, i also move on these things as quick as United do).

Amazing

I think we'd be lucky to get our money back at this stage. He's been woeful this season & looks unfit. We're working a lot harder without him and look a bit more organised overall.

I love Hamer & he can be a brilliant player, but the fact he wasn't in high demand over the summer despite us being open to offers on most properties is very telling.

Think he’ll be off back to Holland in January or next summer latest - fee will be £5 to £10 million at best.

Well, we will hardly miss him on this seasons form. Cant miss what you havent had. The amount you mention id sell Hamer tomorrow for. But, we know that he is capable of so much more. For me, id give him til January to see what hes doing. Nothing? Get rid. Contributing? leave till the summer.

To be honest, I would probably accept that, his contract expires in 2027, he is one of the bigger earners on approx £30k a week. League dependent we will also entering into final year of parachute payments (we are highly unlikely to go up). Looking at the squad, I think we have covered CB,DM,AM and the left side. Potentially a RB needed and working out the CF's

Seems like his agent is busy.

Bottom line, do we think he is going to sign an extension (unlikely as he just doesnt look particularly happy at the Lane atm)? If we do then great, he can still be a big asset for us. If not, then maybe it's time to try and instigate a bidding war and take what's on the table and use the funds to reshape the squad for the longer term. I like him, but he's far from indispensable to our team.

To be fair, given the fact that the summer transfer window was potentially about "personal reasons" for him looking for a move to the Netherlands, it does seem strange without trying to set-up a new joke that a Turkish, Spanish and Italian club are interested in a move. Not quite sure why he would go to any of those 3 unless big wages. He would upset the balance of wages at Cremonese, Trabzonspor and Seville. Reportly on £30K a week here plus bonuses and then the clubs would have to agree an inflated January transfer fee. Those 3 clubs are a bit bizarre, I could understand if there was at least one Dutch in there and maybe, a potential for promotion Championship club too.

Let him go providing we can replace. The best I’ve seen him was last season but he still struggled with his fitness & I’m not sure what his best position is.

I don’t think he’d be a Wilder type of signing (I’m not suggesting that’s a bad thing) & seemed a bit of a panic signing when we sold N’Diaye. I’ve loved watching him though & he’s got a belter of a goal in him.

We've played better without shoehorning him in the team.
Will he be providing his own transport overseas 🤔 the inflatable ring around his waist should keep him afloat.

The same people who say footballers are fat are generally same people who look like this.

Ridiculous comment saying hes fat. Most people wish they were same body % fat as him.

I did not say Hamer was fat. He's carrying a bit of weight and has been for the last year or so. For a professional Athelete supposedly at the peak of his career it's no wonder he's struggling this season.
For the record, your assumption of others couldn't be any further from the truth.

Imagine being a journalist and seriously saying the Championship player of the year could be available for £6m
How much do you think he us worth based on this season's performances, fitness levels and that,at the moment, he is probably not in our first choice 11 if everyone is fit

I can see us taking a lowish fee just to free up wages. Can probably get 2 decent players for the wages he's on who will actually make the first team. We can't afford him if he's not going to be our best player and he can't even get in the team at the moment. I think £8m is the absolute most we'll hold out for but I can see it being lower
