I think if Wilder stays beyond the summer McGuiness and Chong will be moved on.
If we get someone to cover half their contracts for the remaining 3 years and have to pay them half ourselves we’ll have swum the channel. They're not walking away from 4 year deals at this club. I'll be shocked if we're not stuck with them.
Who's picking up that tab?
Disagree on mcguiness..he,s league one at best.Robinson was a better CB - yes, he had a mistake in him, but more competent.
McGuniess would be ok next to a Tanganga. Or a Bindon, someone with recovery pace - given he's slow as anything.
Mee is a Prem experienced defender and on his day VERY good, even at 35. However he needs pace next to him.
They can't play together because it's then inviting anybody with pace the opportunity...
spot on im not even sure hes league 1 more like league 2 as ive put on another couple of threads 6/7 fringe players need moving on somehow chong is the worst of em hasnt got a clue needs moving on to sunday league football in graves parkDisagree on mcguiness..he,s league one at best.
Wednesday fans loved him. I realise now that was in League 1 - which is probably his level. He's only ever going to be passable in the champ with an athletic CB next to him to make up for his many misgivings. Putting Mee next to him was a recipe for disaster.Disagree on mcguiness..he,s league one at best.
No coincidence that once we went to a back four, results suddenly picked up when Tanganga and Mee weren't having to babysit him and were able to concentrate on the game at hand.Mee was not his usual standard … but he was greatly hindered by constantly covering for Mcguiness who was constantly pulled out of position and locks the pace to recover
Exactly mate … one player can make those around then look bad … at times yesterday Mee was playing both side of CD on his own .. Mcguiness clueless and a league 1 player at bestNo coincidence that once we went to a back four, results suddenly picked up when Tanganga and Mee weren't having to babysit him and were able to concentrate on the game at hand.
Yeah. I'll stick up for Mee yesterday on that basis alone. No coincidence that once we went to a back four, results suddenly picked up when Tanganga and Mee weren't having to babysit him and were able to concentrate on the game at hand.
McGuiness over Mee, do fuck offI'm barely disagreeing, but Mee was out with a fucking hand injury. He was still fit and training normally, if not match fit, which makes that performance even more bizarre. It was so bad I wonder what our pecking order is now: Tanganga, Bindon, McGuinness, Mee?
Were you at the game?McGuiness over Mee, do fuck off![]()
has to be a big turnover this summer and wilder and all united fans know it mcguinness and chong have to be 2 of the worst signings weve ever made for me their both league 1 level if that we need 8 moving on in the summer and 6 good championship players to come inNot anticipating him leaving this window but imagine a big turnover in the squad come the summer. His name should be near the top of the ones to go. Horrific panic signing who is at very best mid table league 1
Yes and Mee doing 2 CB jobs and bedding in a new RB along with an out of sorts LB at the age of 36 isn't the greatest! Along with a keeper that doesn't command his box, although collectively poor you can only do so much. Were you at the game?
Got no problem with all that context. I only pointed out that he was absolutely terrible, the worst of the lot, and it made me wonder if that's going to be his performance level going forward.Yes and Mee doing 2 CB jobs and bedding in a new RB along with an out of sorts LB at the age of 36 isn't the greatest! I think we will be losing Mee, Ings, Davies x 2 (both out of contract), probably loan out Grbić for last season of his deal if we can't get a fee, Mcguinness, Chong, Soumare, Ogbene, Hoever and Bindon back to parent clubs, then depending on development Faxon and One need minutes along with Zätterström. That leaves us very short on keepers (1) DM's and in general defenders and a strikers too. So we are looking at a huge summer.has to be a big turnover this summer and wilder and all united fans know it mcguinness and chong have to be 2 of the worst signings weve ever made for me their both league 1 level if that we need 8 moving on in the summer and 6 good championship players to come in
Personally I don't think so, alongside Tanganga, Seriki and McCallum, I think Mee is solid in that back 4 and has the experience to manage a game and defence especially when we have Riedewald sat in frontGot no problem with all that context. I only pointed out that he was absolutely terrible, the worst of the lot, and it made me wonder if that's going to be his performance level going forward.
Yes, I'm not having anyone tell me they'd prefer McGuiness over Mee, despite how poor he was yesterday. He was playing really well next to Tanganga before his injury. What's more, Tanganga looked more and more confident not having to babysit captain clown. Were you at the game?
That's the bit that confuses me with him, he is at an age that really he should be at least knowing his bar/playing level but I can't understand why we brought him in to the club and what he offers. If we bought Bindon in on a perm aged 20 you think fair enough he has a few years to develop maybe even out on loan but aged 25 probably only has 10 years left career wise.I can't believe he's only 25, he runs like he's at least 40
He’s the modern day Mark Foran. Makes Darren Carr look like Franco Baresi.Mark McGuiness hasn't made many ridiculous errors, like the ones Robinson, Nyworthy, McEvely etc. became synonymous with, but I think he stands out as one of the most obviously lower league centre halves I've seen at the Lane. He just isn't Championship standard and doesn't have any attributes that are of that standard.
I don't think he was playing as well as others do next to Tanganga. He was fairly solid for a short spell.Yes, I'm not having anyone tell me they'd prefer McGuiness over Mee, despite how poor he was yesterday.
