Former Chelsea man Alex Matos will be allowed to leave Sheffield United in this transfer window if the Blades receive a suitable offer

The AI experiment signings who remain at Bramall Lane - Bulgarian right back Mihail Polendakov, winger Christian Nwachukwu and fellow Nigerian forward Ehije Ukaki - are also free to leave after failing to justify their arrivals as part of the disastrous transfer policy effectively overseen by self-styled data guru James Bord.

I'm old enough to remember when I read all this on another part of the forum 20 minutes ago

Matos please re-uniite with Oxford, did well there. The rest out on loan somewhere.

Sounds like it was written by ChatGPT.

Well that went well didnt it. Absolute farce.

And the club in Bulgaria who we signed the 18 year old full back from, and who received their record incoming transfer fee for, just happens to be co owned by James Bord who instigated these signings. Just purely co-incidence of course...

More importantly, each of the lads who have come in probably on false pretences to them also which isnt fair of them either, are taking up a permitted overseas player slot for the club. Its also potentially stunting the young lads playing potential. Thank goodness CW is back to oversee this mess and is trying to move all of them on to everyones benefit.

As for Matos, i understand for all players sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesnt at various clubs, but who in their right minds looked at him and thought 'yes, i can see him being a top end Championship player potentially'?
He clearly doesnt have the physique or technical ability to make up for the lack of it, to make that level. Bizarre signing. Lower league player at best.

Just a complete waste of time and money all round and i would imagine its one of (probably the main one) reasons why Bord has been told he is no longer acting as an advisor to our club. Maybe he would like to bring them in at SWFC for the same fees that we paid for em, if he gets ownership there... mmhhh... i wonder if he will be so glib and free with the clubs money being wasted on inferior data driven players if its his money being wasted....

Anyone actually know what we paid for Matos?

The figures I've heard don't make for good viewing, I hope the fee is significantly less than what is being touted

Much like Bindon he was slaughtered as part of the disastrous start to the season. Bindon has found redemption after McGuinness’s weaknesses were exposed once too often.

While I think it’s fair to get shut as we are well stacked in that area, I also don’t believe he was given enough time to show his worth.
Given too bloody long in my book lol

😬

Even £1m is too much. We can only hope he improves.

No. We can only hope he is sold on this window and that lessons are learnt by some (owners mainly) in the club.

I bet that was an interesting conversation between the co owners, Bettis and Wilder when Wilder told them that they had been sold a number on these AI data driven recruited players as they are all way off the necessary standards.

I said AI signings were pointless at the time and have not changed my mind. AI signings at Brentford and Brighton have worked because of the system the process they use once they have purchased the players. They have staff dedicated to analyse players down to minute detail on the pitch from where the players shoulders are positioned to where they are facing during the game. The detail is phenomenal and when it put into the system the staff highlight the weaknesses and improve them to perfect every aspect of the players game. The gambler’s who run the system believe that if every aspect of the players game has been developed then there is a better chance of winning particularly because they have all the same stats of the opposition and if you lose then it will be analysed for further fine tuning but the they believe that circumstances might work against them every now and again but they should win. All aspects of the coaching department are driven towards this and it is not possible to implement such a process at our club for obvious reasons (for the immediate future). Managers aren’t usually got rid of at these two clubs as everything being organised in the way it is should result in more positive outcomes then negatives. At the minute AI will not work for us and our coaching staff. You don’t simply put a manager in who is positive about the system without having a team in place who are already implementing this approach.

If Brentford and Brighton are using AI to sign players it is working as they are using it. The other stuff you described can fine tune them, but they still have to be a good signing in the first place.
We clearly haven't used it correctly.
I Don't believe anyone successful will be using an 'AI' signing (on its own)
It is just one more tool to use, not THE method. That is the key.

It's like, bruised and battered after the playoff final, Wilder needed an extended break to get his mojo back. He's then come back in and gone "what the chuffing hell is going on here then?" and cleared the decks.

We need to modernise and revolutionise the infrastructure and hierarchy of the club, and of course using data within that (we already will do) but it just goes to show that a vastly experienced manager knows more than a poker player with a computer and an ego.

That useless twat Bord was brought in to do one job and fucked us royally - lost us millions.

Pity the next club he gets his grubby mitts on…..

That is untrue!

He is God's gift to football and has an eye for a sleeping giant.

As we speak, Real Madrid are having an emergency board meeting, to discuss how they can stop the S6 Massive, dominating Europe in the 2030s.

It really doesn't, it's stuffed full of Star-isms. Hall has a very distinct style. Like how you always used to be able to tell James Shield had written something because it would start with the words "Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, ..."

Its a lessen learned , not that we haven't signed duds before , everyone does .

I suppose COH were new owners , unfamiliar with the game and got seduced by a snake oil salesman in Bord .

Feel a bit for the lads themselves , cant have helped thier careers and really not thier fault .

Move on ,Bord might have a new toy to play with and COH just need to take it on the chin.
