If you were in an auto spot now, or just off it, and looking for a striker to get you over the line to the premier league promised land, surely Bamford is who you would go after next week. I’m sure some will be trying.
If it’s true he’s agreed terms, then his agent would be in a great position to say “This is what you need to beat…”
I really hope we can get him, because his brief spell has been far and away the best bit of transfer business we’ve done all year.

Happy if he does sign on for 2yr deal while he has been here he as done well none of the cheating of his Leeds time. He has concentrated on football scoring goals, he does know how to draw fouls that take the pressure off the team as he did last night getting the Stoke defender a red card. It's all about positioning Billy Sharp could do that too, no doubting Bamford's ability.

A few have criticised Ings and personally I fail to understand out of all the strikers why he is pointed out. He scored against Norwich, he has had 2 ruled out for offside by finest of margins, he is only here until the end of the season with the option to extend. He is still only 33, an ex-England striker and a model professional that the youngsters can be learning off. He is rumoured to be on around £30,000 a week if you can trust google which for a striker of his pedigree is about right, with his injury record, Bamford was on £70,000 in is 2nd contract at Leeds with his injury problems rising from £35,000. But to also put it into perspective, Ings has arrived on a free not costing £8mill plus like Cannon, plus his weekly wage of £25,000 a week. We knew on signing Ings similar to Mee we are getting players that are towards the end of their playing careers however Ings will score a few more and setup a few too. We have plenty of spare change with the loans of Ogbene, Godfrey and Barry going back. Ben Godfrey was on £75,000 a week not sure if we were paying full wack but that ain’t value for money, Barry’s Villa contract is £35,000 a week and Ogbene was another £25,000 presuming we are paying the full fee
Not been impressed with Ings. Whereas Bamford has made a huge impression straightaway, Ings has never stood out for me and I wouldn’t keep him unless he suddenly improves.

I would love to see him given a 2 and half year deal (up to summer 2028). He isnt a speed merchant (though no slouch) and relies more on his aerial ability and clever footwork. He will still have that in 2 years time. He is clearly a big asset to have for any Championship club and he could be the difference. Alternatively, we could go out and spunk a load of money on a younger player with a large transfer fee, who isnt half the player PB is and then wait for him to settle in, a bit like a Tom Cannon. Its a no brainer, provided PB isnt being ridiculous in wage demands, pay him a signing on fee and get it done. Quality player and i have to admit i didnt want him (more because of his old cheating antics rather than his ability, but hes seemingly stopped that too).

A Dirty Leeds fan collared us today while we were out at the 12 Apostles. My DelticBlade shirt gave away I was a Blade to him. He said that Bamford would be a really good player for us, unfortunately probably not Prem quality any more. He was complimentary about how things were turning around under Wilder and what a disaster getting rid of Wilder was. He was quite pleased about 3 teams being worse than Leeds.

Who is going to buy him for starters and him only really having 5 months left, In Cannon's interview after the Stoke away game yesterday on Youtube from 1:34 question about building partnerships although he mentioned Bamford being a great guy, the person he looked up to for advice was clearly Ings even saying if ever needed him he could go to him. A lot of the times professionals like Ings although we don't see it day in day out as we are only really tuned into a match day and the odd social media splurge but he is clearly having a positive impact on Cannon, and with him being younger and committed to the club on an extended contract, it can only be a good thing for the longer term.

i see your point but i still dont think it will happen here for ings and if the rumours are correct about bamford signing a 2 year deal ings will be released imo think its one or the other also wouldnt suprise me if campbell goes in the summer doesnt seem to be happening for him either at the moment i think we need younger legs

I would love us to sign him on a longer deal but we've made things harder for ourselves in the past signing players who are often unavailable.

So a deal to the end of the season with an option for another year would make sense for us. Perhaps not for Bamford.

If I was Bamford I'd probably sign on with us until the end of the season.

With a young family, upping sticks to move to America in January would be quite the upheaval and I imagine he'd have to go out there on his own for a period.

The curve ball would be if someone like Middlesbrough comes in for him (if he lives in Yarm as others have said).
That's a football club on his doorstep that are actually challenging for something. If they made commitments to him in terms of playing time then he'd probably be daft not to make that switch.

Whilst I hope he signs an 18 month deal, I'm fairly relaxed about it either way.
With or without Bamford, this season's a write off.

Bamford needs the longer term deal 100%, I am not disputing Ings being released in the summer/not having his deal extended, it's more there isn't any need to terminate early when we don't have anyone else that has that experience yet as it's not like he is filling overseas or loan slots. If we get One out on loan, he could be ready for next season as a replacement but with Ings where are the buyers coming from? If we got a bid then fair enough, but we still need 4 strikers with the rotation that we are doing up top and still a long way to go yet and after last seasons drop off we can't afford to do that again, so need everyone we can keep for now. Regroup in the summer and and assess from there.

Ings looks ready for Div 2 football
To be fair to Ings (I still will back him) if he doesn't get a contract extension at the end of the season or a move to another Championship club on a free, I don't think he will drop, he will be 34 before the next season starts and he already is heavily involved in his own charity work for over 10 years (Danny Ings Disability Sport Project) and it's not like he has been under paid, much of his career has seen him on £75,000 a week, estimated net worth of £37million. He can retire when he wants, everyone is naturally entitled to their own opinions, it was worth the gamble, he has calmed and settled in Cannon, hopefully can have a positive impact on the likes of One amongst others. Even if he is only giving us certain minutes here and there, it allows rest periods plus he does know where the net is, Like when we weren't giving Cannon the service, he is a striker that needs that. 15 appearances playing 478 mins out of a possible 1,350 mins scoring 1 with 2 ruled out for offside from 15 shots. If those 2 counted all of a sudden he becomes a 1 in 5 shot striker. Personally unless anything drastically changes, I don't think he will renew but I am happy to have seen him play, never a player I would like seeing lining up against us. It was only 5 and a bit years ago where he was scoring his 22nd goal in the Premier League

I hope we manage to sign him for a longer term. I was one of those who wanted us to sign him when he was a free agent.
