I fear that the terrible injury he suffered has taken its toll not just physically but mentally. He’s a shadow of the player he was and I fear the worse

he has played a small number of games and has been rushed back yet still has v good stats, re passing, ball retention, key passes etc.
My “fear” is that he will not be with us very much longer as bigger clubs will come in for him.

But you entitled to your opinion, even though it comes with no foundation

All players returning from such long term injuries will have this question over them.

The worry for me is that he’s come back in at a time when we’ve lost our best player, peck. So lots of pressure on Blaster, naturally.

Only time will tell. But I feel that he’s a very level headed player so mentally he’ll get back to where he needs to.

But it has just been a couple of games and he will need time to get to where he was pre injury. We also need to remember that it was his first proper season when he got the injury.

No pressure on him, fans need to remember how big that injury was.

I think he’s been fine. Showed some class and the things we saw that made him special. Showed good composure when under pressure in possession.

Only negative so far was the Wrexham game looked too quick for him to impose much positive play. But I get that it’ll take time.

What did you expect at this stage? Has it been 3 games since he came back ffs?

As expected though the longer he was injured the more amazing a player he became apparently. I think that’s put more pressure on the lad, but he’s doing as well as he could be really.

There’s a reason we are conceding shit loads of goals and he’s part of it at the moment, the problem we have is it’s needs must at the moment, he has to play because the other options look like they’ve just been bought off a bric-à-brac store.

The lad needs time that's all ,the class is still there .won't see the best of blaster until next season . Nobody goes from a ACL to back to best in a couple of games

Too early to say imo and he has been thrown back in earlier than anyone wanted, due to necessity.

For what it's worth I think he has been functional but unspectacular.

I don’t think I ever seen a Blades player written off so soon after a long serious injury…and by one of our own, it’s what I’d expect from one of the resident WUM’s. Just 3 part-games played for heaven’s sake, and in one of them he played well. How long did it take RND to be able to play every week and get his MOTM reviews for QPR? It could be months, it may even take him till next season to be fully up to speed, we all knew that surely after a year+ out? I just don’t get why any Blade would even want to put it out there so early.

Crikey, I was of the opinion he could play as badly as he wantes until he's up to speed because we've so few options.

Of course its going to take time for him to get up to speed match fitness wise and psychologically. Only he knows how his knee feels when he playing. Let's hope he isnt feeling anything other than the normal muscle soreness and can kick on in the new year.

The reality that you are not indestructible will always impact a players mentality. We don’t need a gung Ho type anyway we need a player who can read the game , pass intelligently and only put his body on the line as a last resort. Football maturity !

There's plenty of examples of players who don't come back quite the same as they were after a long term injury.

Early days, yet, for Blaster but my fear is that he's back in the starting eleven too early and could do with less regular games and take it easy building back up.

He had PL interest before the injury and maybe they're still watching and waiting too.

Either way, GLTTL for his recovery and future, wherever that might be.

The question will be about high his ceiling is. He’s been rushed back in and looked as good/better than what we’ve got. If he doesn’t play in Prem people will point to the injury. I suspect he’ll get a season or so under his belt and we’ll sell him.

He does seem to wince out of hard tackles. Noticed a few where you can see his immediate reaction is "am I hurt" after the tackle. Body language tell.
If he can overcome confidence in not getting injured he will be reyt. Time will tell but we are missing Peck (it was not so long ago when some were saying he shouldnt play again ie Peck)

I think that confidence will be central to how Blaster is able to recapture his sense of what's possible.
Far too early to gauge what he feels able to achieve, but a considered, gradual understanding by both
staff and player will tell everyone just how successful the recovery has been. It's early days so patience
is required by everyone.

He certainly backed out of a couple of tackles against Wrexham....not surprising considering how long he has been out for. He will improve with each game we play but we should be protecting g him as well.
I hope he is rested tonight as I think we will need more physicality in midfield tonight and he isn't quite there yet.

Who exactly steps in for him?

It sounds a bit Alan Partridge but I saw and spoke to Ollie at Barnsley Metrodome last week when I took the kids. He was there with his family on his way out and he looked to be limping, so I asked if all was ok with his leg. He said it’s a bit sore but working through it (this was pre Wrexham).

I said to my Mrs I’d be shocked if he were to play Boxing Day as he looked in pain to me, but obvs I’m not a medical professional 😂
