I’m going to have to disagree as you too are drawing moral equivalence in order to justify the initial position. Isreal was not committing a terrorist act as it wasn’t killing people in Gaza indiscriminately. The theatre of war hadn’t become one of their own making it had been one of the making of Hamas. Innocent casualties in a theatre of war are very tragic but cannot be compared to what had taken place a week earlier. The amount of innocents that died in Gaza was, thankfully, the lowest ever in modern warfare history.

It’s Londonderry according to UK Law whilst the council is officially titled Derry City (and Strabane). In the 70s / 80s it was christened Stroke City by the youth. The airport is City of Derry Airport, the tourist board call it Derry- Londonderry and have now taken to calling it ‘LegenDerry’ (). Some road signs are calling it ‘the walled city’.

Unless you’re the local MP, leader of the council or a local resident, maybe give your heart a rest and chill out about its name?

Actually at the start of WW2, there was consternation in the Air Ministry about whether to bomb 'legitimate' German targets, like naval dockyards, as private property and civilians might be hit. We did actually drop leaflets, although these were just propoganda messages.

Glad I made you smile. Let me give you a little information that may make you consider your rather polarised view. The peace marchers on the day had dispersed and the Para's had not even been deployed at the point where the media chose to film/report the events. The only people left on the streets were the yobs who wanted a riot. The IRA coordinated this and it was a favoured tactic throughout the troubles. Kick off on the streets, draw the Army in and open fire.
The Para's were deployed when the rioters kicked off. When the gunmen engaged the unarmed riot squad they received an arse kicking from supporting troops.
The 'peaceful' protesters had long gone at this point. The people caught in the crossfire had the opportunity to leave. They chose not to but rather stand and throw rocks and petrol bombs. Look at the 'victims' of that day. Not many women, kid or elderly people. They had long gone before the contact began.
