I mean, coincidences do exist, but this guy's arrival does seem to have signalled an upturn in our performances. Not to mention the fact that we're now dangerous from set pieces for the first time in, well, forever.

Agreed , for many years even when we have been doing well we have in general been hopelessly inept at set pieces and particularly corners .

Just in the last few weeks this aspect of our game has seen a dramatic improvement and one which is clearly not down to coincidence .

The runs into the box and towering headers expertly placed into the top corner , first by McGuiness and then Bindon have been both a joy to watch and long overdue .

Absolutely agree with the above a lot of work on the training ground is being done to block defender's and allow the likes of Bindon Mcguiness to be completely free.
Arsenal have a set piece coach for there routines and it works well.
Also Tanganga is causing havoc in the opposition box.

I would also like to see McCallum in there causing havoc.

Yes been thinking the same Joe.
Definately been an upturn in our threats from corners,been this way for a few weeks now. The new coach must have an input here , we are a different animal at corners long may it continue.

There actually was a stat last year that surprised me in that we had the most goals from corners. Think it was mentioned in the play off semis where we scored from one so it's nothing that new.

It’s good that they recognise somebody else is better at certain things than they are. So, employ them and let them crack on. A business owner is not good at everything so, he employs specialists to do the jobs he can’t do.

Cant beleave we scored many from corners.last seasons stats should tell the true picture.If we were up there with the best ! I will be very surprised.

I think it’s him that always stands up from the dugout shouting whenever we’re setting up for a free kick just outside the area whether we’re attacking or defending so it looks like more than coincidence

We are mixing them up brilliantly ,the 3 at the Bramall lane end scored by different centre backs are almost identical some cunning taking place with blocking ! All training ground routines.
More of the same please! opposition will be trying to nullify what we do will be interesting if we can keep one step infront of the oposition tactics.

Yes, it’s from a reliable source, or a number of sources actually, including the Premier League statistical reports. In any particular league around the world it fluctuates between 2-4%, although goals from corners are responsible for about 12-13% of total goals scored. I was surprised by how few it was.

I think it's 3% of corners taken result in a goal. Those goals are the 12-13% of the grand total.
If that's makes sense.

She's a great woman but it's when I sing it to the corner of the bed or corner of a street she looks sad and confused

Our average corners per game this season is 7.28 (182 corners in total). We are actually highest average - second is Middlesbrough with 6.28.

Our games average 11.56, again the highest. Second are Oxford with 11.24 - but they have the lowest numbers of corners won with 3.8 - basically tomorrow is a game between most corners won v most corners conceded.

In answer to a post above (or was it in the set piece improvement thread?), 9 of our games this season have had more than 12.5 corners (36%). 92% have had more than 7.5.

Last season we averaged 5.57 corners per game (put us 6th highest). Leeds were highest with 7.11 ahead of Wednesday with 6.04. Our games averaged 10.57.

I'll try and do the corners for this season for Selles v Wilder if I can be bothered later!
