I feel really sorry for "our" Kyle - he would have walked into that England team.

Johnson is bl**dy useless - slow, cumbersome, can't defend and will probably get roasted once the real competition starts. He is a lucky fella - I don't think much to Jones or Smalling either and even Naughton is a better fullback.

If you actually read this, then speedy recovery young man...........lets hope you have better luck come the Euro's in 2 years time.

Once a Blade, always a Blade.

Not just Johnson who is lucky. How the hell are Rooney and Wellbeck getting a game. We always go into every tournement playing the established, then after fucking up the 1st game moving to the players in form, ala Barkley and Moses.

To be fair to Hodgson he's nearly got it right and I think Moses will come in for Wellbeck, however Shrek should do one, put in Wilshere and move Lallana further forward.

The young guns have so much potential and Kyle when injuries and his head are right is one of those.

Moses? The Nigerian international?

To be fair to Hodgson what other fit right backs are there? I would have tried Jagielka at RB and tried to convince Terry to come out of retirement, seems to be a lack of decent English defenders coming through.
Shame Walkers injured would have been nice to see 3 blades in the back 4.

The fact that Walker would probably get in the starting England team shows how poor the defence currently is. Positionally Walker and Johnson are so far short of where they need to be when defending it's embarrassing.

Fully agree Fuiwood. Johnson isn't bad when he goes forward but defensively, he's terrible.
As well as slow and cumbersome, he loses his man on a regular basis and I worry that his naïve attempts at defending will cost us a few goals in the next couple of weeks.
Even Honduras sussed him out and were playing on him last night. A liability to England and although Kyle Walker isn't the finished article by a long way, he'd be a certainty to be in the team if he was fit.

You had me until you said Terry making a comeback. Sorry but he was awful and had to be good at tackling because he has concrete boots. Would have chanced Rio before JT.

He's had a good season though and is inform. I'd also consider his partnership with Cahill, especially with some of the lack of communication and understanding seen last night

Only Cahill and Lampard in the England squad would have tolerated him. The only thing that could change that is Gerrard wanting him back and that's not going to happen, thank god.

Rio ??
And people still think we have a chance in the World cup? We wont win a game.

Another wavelength? Yep the other lads are trying to pass to their own team mates.

Beat me to the punch. He gives the ball away an awful lot and it's not because he's seen some insane option that nobody else has, it's because it's a loose pass. Or indeed, because he's being a selfish two hat. Plus he can't stay fit.

I just don't get the hype with him.

Flanagan has had a better season than both of them albeit at left back.
Personally I would have tried Ashley Cole who's intelligent enough to switch and put in better performances than Johnson or Walker. Although I can't believe Baines was taken ahead of him anyway.

Jack 'First touch into trouble' Wiltshire.

Sometimes he looks a world beater others a like a pub player...just does too many stupid things at the moment..

Whole team shows inconsistency and I think we will be fortunate to get past the group stages.

Whilst its a given that the team 'eases off' for the pre tournament friendlies, last night against Honduras (many, many places below England in the world ranking) we looked like Weir's Sheffield United. At the back there was clueless lack of structure and communication, in midfield a propensity to lose possession and not move forward, out wide powder puff wankery and up front a spoon-booted rotating shower of bell-ends.

Cahill and Jags don't seem to have any understanding as to who is doing what. Johnson is a fucking liability. Baines - possibly the only person who puts in a shift can't put in a decent, driven cross any more. Gerrard receives the ball from this lot and his only real outlet is a predictable diagonal, forty yard thump to the opposite wing ... his co-conspirator in the middle is Henderson who seems to be playing hos own game, on his own. And he's not very good at it.

I don't get 4-2-3-1. I don't see what it gives our method of play. It's ace if you have 4 attacking midfielders like Spain or Barca, who can do a lot of work of the ball and run the opposition ragged and draw players out to allow a runner. But England haven't got any of that. Lallana plays like he's out on a piss up and is too lightweight (Honduras muscled him out too many times). Rooney is a spent force now and will never, ever be that tornado of a young blood we saw eight years ago. Man Utd and Ferguson have wrung the poor ugly fucker dry, by playing him in any other position that where he used to be good, namely up front battling his way into two or three goals. Sturridge is about 75% of the player we need and he is at max-chat. The goal against Peru will never be repeated. Welbeck - please! He is possibly as good as Chris Porter, and will never be any better. He faffs about, never penetrates any defence with any measure of danger and again, is far too lightweight. Compared with Lambert - possibly the only hope we have of goals - he is piss weak. Lambert at least knows what it is about being the lone striker although at Southampton he had a world of options feeding his scoring ability. I struggle to think where he is going to be fed from in the England side. Wilshere? Not really. He is into picking the ball up, breezing past a player and then losing it. I don't really see him as Gerrard or Lampard's natural suggessor either. The only two bright sparks we have are Barkley and Sterling, two players who kinda play in the same position. Both are fast, but both are young and inexperienced. And both have the ability to be swept up and placed in the pockets of an organised defence.

It all looks pretty shit, really

So what do you reckon then? Quarter finals?

I reckon we have to play Sterling/Barkley with Lambert from the start, to have any chance at all. Forget Wellbeck and we definitely need to replace Johnson with someone, but I've no idea who !!

I think we will lose to Italy 0-1, draw 2-2 with Uruguay and, with the press on Hodgson's back and players getting all sorts of shit slung at them, need miracles to get through with a poor win against a Costa Rica side already out, but willing to bumfuck one of the big teams by doing exactly what Honduras did, namely deny us time on the ball and muscle out the Premier League pansies.

Players like Johnson and Gerrard will be singled out and it may take a rash decision and another goalkeeping howler to allow a useless bastard like Ben Foster a start who really is the bottom corner of the lowest barrel.

Really hope I am wrong here and we boot teams all over the park. But if we get out of this group ... and it is a big if ... we will face someone like Spain or Argentina who will seriously draw us a picture of how shit the English national side really is.

If/when we make it to the second round, we'll meet a team from group C, so Colombia, Ivory Coast, Japan or Greece.

Glen Johnson has had a really poor season with Liverpool, wouldn't suprise me if he moves on !
Flanagan is a natural RB,he should play with Baines at LB,Rooney should come on off the bench, might give him a kick up the bum !
Welbeck shouldn't even be on the plane !
Sterling should be a starter every game,as should Barkley,C'mon Woy give it a go !!!!!!!!!!!
:)
Sorry ..Edit dont think flanagan is in the 23..shame ...
