I would have considered Naughton, pretty sure he always used to be the better of the Kyle twins as wellEither Bray, or Wisdom, would've been way better than the options chosen. Both on form and solid as a rock, compared to the alternatives.
Bray was the best in the Championship several years running, Wisdom was this year. With no obvious English talent in the Premier, I would have looked there. Instead we pick an out of form failure, that has learned nothing as he failed in the past too.
4 years to search the right candidate, but no immagination as usual. Typical FA pawn selection.

Flanagan has had a better season than both of them albeit at left back.
Personally I would have tried Ashley Cole who's intelligent enough to switch and put in better performances than Johnson or Walker. Although I can't believe Baines was taken ahead of him anyway.
I can't see why anyone gives him grief to be honest. He's been England's best, most consistent player for the past four major tournaments, always solid at the back, brilliant going forward.Ashley Cole and intelligent in the same sentence - bravo
As to whether he is intelligent enough to swap flanks - I think that statement is only valid for one of his Booty calls
By the way - has Ashley Cole ever put in a decent cross in his life?
I've certainly never seen one for England
Very capable defender and speedy with it but very one dimensional - offers nothing up top - in more ways than one![]()

The fact that he cheated on an incredibly annoying talentless Geordie (who also cheated during the marriage which is often forgotten), doesn't really come into it.
I would have loved him to become the England outfield player with the most caps just so Daily Mail readers heads could explode.
He certainly deserves to be give his performances over many many years.
......and in 10 years time he'd still be a better full back than Walker or Johnson.
... Can't abide the talentless Geordie bint he copped off with so that's not a factor ...
I reckon we have to play Sterling/Barkley with Lambert from the start, to have any chance at all. Forget Wellbeck and we definitely need to replace Johnson with someone, but I've no idea who !!
