Either Bray, or Wisdom, would've been way better than the options chosen. Both on form and solid as a rock, compared to the alternatives.

Bray was the best in the Championship several years running, Wisdom was this year. With no obvious English talent in the Premier, I would have looked there. Instead we pick an out of form failure, that has learned nothing as he failed in the past too.

4 years to search the right candidate, but no immagination as usual. Typical FA pawn selection.

I would have considered Naughton, pretty sure he always used to be the better of the Kyle twins as well

He's had a quite awful season for Spurs - several Spurs fans I know no longer rate him at all. Nowhere near Walker at the moment.

I think we'll reach the quarters.

People are terrified of an Italy side that have won 1 of their last 8, including draws against Armenia and Luxembourg. I'm not saying we're a good side but we're capable of beating all 3 teams in our group and any of the 4 we could face in the last 16.

Flanagan has had a better season than both of them albeit at left back.
Personally I would have tried Ashley Cole who's intelligent enough to switch and put in better performances than Johnson or Walker. Although I can't believe Baines was taken ahead of him anyway.

Ashley Cole and intelligent in the same sentence - bravo :)

As to whether he is intelligent enough to swap flanks - I think that statement is only valid for one of his Booty calls :o

By the way - has Ashley Cole ever put in a decent cross in his life?
I've certainly never seen one for England
Very capable defender and speedy with it but very one dimensional - offers nothing up top - in more ways than one ;)

I can't see why anyone gives him grief to be honest. He's been England's best, most consistent player for the past four major tournaments, always solid at the back, brilliant going forward.
The fact that he cheated on an incredibly annoying talentless Geordie (who also cheated during the marriage which is often forgotten), doesn't really come into it.

I would have loved him to become the England outfield player with the most caps just so Daily Mail readers heads could explode.
He certainly deserves to be give his performances over many many years.
......and in 10 years time he'd still be a better full back than Walker or Johnson.

I agree a very competent defender but "brilliant going forward" really?
I think he is rubbish going forwards. As I have said before I cannot recall many, if any assists from Cole fro England - his crossing is atrocious and he cant take a set piece if his life depended on it. With his pace you woul dhave expected a few assists from getting around the back of a defence and crossing but he rarely , if ever beats the first man with his crosses.

Can't abide the talentless Geordie bint he copped off with so that's not a factor

I reckon we have to play Sterling/Barkley with Lambert from the start, to have any chance at all. Forget Wellbeck and we definitely need to replace Johnson with someone, but I've no idea who !!

How about playing Steven Gerrard at right back? He can tackle, track back and attack going forward and has enough stamina to do all of them. We have enough promising "young guns" to replace him in midfield.

His current role isn't exactly terrorising oponents is it?

Kyle N. has had a poor season for spurs, not helped by being forced to play left back for half the season. Pity Micah Richards doesn't seem interested in playing any more.
