I know injuries and the ridiculous schedule will have ultimately played their part, but at least we have some clarity on a few points IMHO:-

It’s pretty conclusive that McGuinness is considerably worse than Bindon. Really poor on the deck and in every respect looks the second coming of Neill Collins.

COH is miles ahead of Hamer on the left wing; he’s (Hamer) too much of a luxury player and if we get £10m offered in Jan snap their hands off. Just doesn’t do enough any more for me and the “rely on Hamer creating magic” just means we play worse.

McCallum should start over Burrows, who neshed his 50:50 for the first goal. More athletic, more committed.

We looked leggy, lethargic and the second half miles off it. Plenty of room for improvement again.

Injuries and the ridiculous schedule are things that all teams have to contend with, so that isn’t a valid excuse. Other than that, I agree with the rest of it.

I'd argue the illness in the week and the injury to Peck is the main the issue, as we were getting to a settled side before that.

The schedule has been fairly trash for us but not an excuse.

WBA were missing Mowatt who is as pivotal for them as Peck has been recently for us.

No complaints losing this after the run we've been on

It's Norwich we should have beat. If we did tonight wouldn't have mattered

If we had a midfield we'd have beat Norwich for sure and probably not lost tonight either. It's one of the times we could have done with Tom Davies..... but obviously that's too much to ask, as always

Get 4 points from the next 2 and we'll be closer to top half/top 6 than we are now

Everyone was off it tonight, except bizarrely Soumare

I might be in the minority but I'm tired of the excuse of 3 games in 7 days (or 6).

These guys are in their physical prime. should be able to play 3 games in 6 or 7 days, play 90 minutes, and leave all on the field. They don't do that but its not because of 3 games.

No one complained about the schedule when we beat Wednesday, Portsmouth and Leicester in the space of 6 days. Funny that

But we have no one who can do what Peck does whereas they did not seem to miss Mowat. Basically poor defending so we ship 2 goals, second one should have been defended. After that we were overrun in midfield.

We'll see how much illness situation was a factor in the next few games. I'm happy to say it might have been one half too far for a lot of them but it could just be that we're an average team who will have a few good runs and a few bad runs.

It's very reminiscent of those Warnock teams pre the triple assault season. There was always the odd good performance or unbeaten run that had you dreaming before we had a shocker and went on a bad run.

Don't get this stuff about Hamer.
Let's not forget he's coming back off injury too.

I'd not play hamer or O'Hare though. I'd like both in. And that's a Wilder conundrum.

McGuinness did not have a good game. Would prefer bindon next game if Mee isn't back. Despite him being fouled for the 2nd.

Burrows also had a poor game McCallum has been better this season and should start. But I reckon Sam could still be a bit ill. As could some others.

Certainly not seen energy levels from some like you'd expect. And perhaps that is another reason we lost.

Matt Donohue special again. That was a pen.

So what exactly are the reasons to be positive?

That's the positives?!

There was a similar feel to the Norwich game. Front foot first half and a huge drop off second half.

I don't think COH would've changed too much last night, we were pressing high first half, hamer included and Hamer was behind a lot of positivity. I don't have a favourite for that role, both provide different attributes, which we also need.

You're right about McCallum. In a four, he looks better, in a 5 Burrows role down the left works well.

Peck has become such a key part of this side and hopefully he's back soon,
