All those who didnt want Wilder back

4-4-2. Who’d have thought he would go to basics? That and playing Tanganga in his right position and having Rideraroundtheworld and Bamford. Have given us great competition and you can see players are stepping up.

If this is Wilder Mk1 I’d be over the moon.

I think we’re currently playing better than we did for most of last season.

Signing Bamford has been a stroke of genius—allowed us to play 2 up top in a system that gets the best out of everyone.

Most of all, credit to Wilder for keeping faith with Peck who is proving that form is temporary but class is permanent.
Agree. Most of last season’s games were boring to say the least. We even continued attacking today

I didn't want Wilder back. Can't stand his style of passing the ball around the opponent box and then back to our keeper. The last few games have been a lot better because he's finally changed the formation. I wish he had done it last season.
I also find him arrogant and rude, singing songs in public about another manager. Whining about a linesman eating a sandwich after a match.
If he keeps playing a positive formation for the rest of the season I might reconsider my opinion of him.

Here 🙋‍♂️ My reasons for not wanting him back weren't football related. He's a loudmouth gob-shite who embarrassed the club numerous times with his behaviour. At times he acts like one of the embarrassing old boys who turn up coked off their face looking for a scrap. Wasn't and still isn't someone you'd want to represent the club on a global stage. Will most likely spit him dummy out and sneak out the back door next time we hit a rough patch...
It's a toss up between drivel or rage bate.

Where are you now?
How good was that?
Five matches
Four wins one draw.
Four without conceding.
13 goals for. 2 against

Today I thought we outplayed and out performed a decent side in every department . A side who were top two recently. Things are coming together nicely. I'm beginning to be more positive. It can only get better.
ALL since the return of Wilder of Nazareth.
I'm just happy my arse is safe 🤣

Still here.
Still don’t like him.
Done very well recently.

Never ever should have been sacked. Always right for 'us'. All this no good for long term shite is exactly that shite. We are SUFC not MUFC.

That today was as good as it will ever get for 'us'. Well done Al and Chris - on behalf of the board - 'sorry we were clueless'.

Agreed, shame he can’t learn to act with grace and gain the respect of other managers like Selles did

You also said you could grow hair follicles

Don’t call me baldy baldy

I didn’t want wilder back cause he played crap football and played players out of position with no tactics

We have played better football the last 4 games than we did 99% of the games last season with arguably a weaker squad

This team and side was always a mid table minimum squad and wilder is getting us back to that level and more

Bamford and Riedewald signings have been a master stroke
So, you’re either missing something or just dismiss what Wilder had to contend with last season
A complete squad rebuild after losing circa 19 players
-2 starting points
Uncertainty over take over
The fucking dynamite man situation
The aftermath of a dreadful season and relegation.

But of course. Are you not entertained?

Fucking strewth 🤦‍♂️

Wilder has had a bit of an easy ride, in a way. Huge pay off (possibly) and then comes back in with expectations massively reduced.

Perhaps this is why he's daring to play two up top and go for teams. Like he did after we blew the league, and headed into the play offs last season.

I love wilder though, for the record.

Easily the best blades manager in my life time, though I can make an argument for Bassett too.

Great game today
He’s earned every fucking penny he’s been paid by United. And then some. Every fucking penny.

Can’t abide this shit about pay off and cushty. We were in the shit of 6 years in divvy 1 until he took the scruff of the neck and sorted it.

Maybe sacking him in May will have done both him and the club some good in the long term. A short sharp shock for the board thinking they could do AI recruitment on the cheap and a wake up call for Wilder to ditch the over cautious approach that ultimately failed us last season

I didn’t want him back for a third time. Nothing personal, just looked like his time had been and gone. We are all allowed an opinion. As long as it’s constructive and the discourse doesn’t enter the gutter that’s what the forum is for.

However after a rough start which had many, including me, questioning the logic behind bringing him back we are winning games in style so things are looking positive.

No pressure on for the rest of the season, just enjoy it. Reminds me of similar mid season resurgences in 95/96, 99/00 and 13/14, might even get a nice run in the cup.

Pretty simple...round pegs in round holes. Now hes decided Tanganga isnt a right back and Seriki is playing where he should have been all season we have a firmer base.

Hes also decided that we look a much better team with 2 up front (remember Moore and Campbell last 1/4 of last season?) Combine that with a return to form of sorts from Campbell and Cannon looking like a player

Signing Bamford and Jairo was a master stroke. As is giving Brooks an extended run in the team as he gives us the legs and ability down the rigjt thst we have lacked.

January will be key as I dont think we need to mess with the team as much as hes indicated he might. Another centre back, another competent keeper and a proper right back to deputise for Seriki will do for me if we can keep Jairro and Bamford
Or that Seriki is now fit?

That’s one of the key things. Seriki can last a full 90 and is a threat every time he goes forward. And his defensive work has improved immeasurably

We had the best squad in the league bar Leeds and played football like prime Kevin Blackwell

I was not entertained last season

Fuckign snobby bollocks

It’s the youngsters that do that crap, anyway. The older lads mostly have an ale or two.

Wilder is a fan. He gets carried away. Too many automata in football and no characters. The characters don’t allus get it politically correct.

Don't forget hecky more recently.

But will his arse rattle again when we come to another Sunderland play off situation?
It may well.
He has form.
Get back to me after that.
Yeah I wondered that to. You do have to get to a play off final with record points to be with a chance to bottle it though. I dont doubt Selles had great plans but starting by losing his first 6 kind of put me off him and realised - you know what, I'd take a nervous 1-0 win all day against all the others in this fucked up league where I am now convinced we can be play off or auto contenders.

We had no where near the best squad in the league. Leeds and Burnley had a far better squad and first XI. Don’t rewrite history with tosh

I love him but was completely ambivalent about him getting moved on in the summer, however after Selles I think he was the clear option to steady the ship again. There’s nobody that could’ve come on board and done better than him post Selles and I was fairly confident we’d not go down under Wilder

Yes,I’m still here and yes it has improved. I really enjoyed today and the 1st half last week and a couple of other 30 minute cameos. It’s took a while to go back to basics and play 2 up front with someone next to Sydie who can play and control his position. I’m happy but hold your horses a little, fit players help and the money that is being shelled out to employ these experienced players is mind numbing, I expect them to perform but yes it is encouraging and actually playing a more refined type of football than the crap last season is pleasing.

His record is P15 W7 D1 L6, the recent form is fantastic but overall it’s been nothing special and too early to have a review Wilder’s third spell.

Let’s judge him at the end of the season.

I didn’t want him back as I thought we were a bit dull last season, despite the results and wasn’t sure if he’d revert back to exciting football. But, we’ve been exceptional in recent games and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. The handbrake seems to be back off and guess what, it’s unsurprising that we look so much better for it.
