Wonder why considering we hosted a games in Euro 2022 and a game last year I think?

Seems a bit ungrateful to me assuming we put a bid in.

Proposed host cities and stadiums for the 2035 Women's World Cup

  • Belfast – The Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park
  • Birmingham – The Sports Quarter Stadium (Birmingham City's proposed new stadium) and Villa Park
  • Brighton – The Amex Stadium
  • Bristol - Ashton Gate
  • Cardiff – Cardiff City Stadium and Principality Stadium
  • Edinburgh – Easter Road
  • Glasgow - Hampden Park
  • Leeds - Elland Road
  • Liverpool - Hill Dickinson Stadium
  • London – Chelsea FC Stadium (either Stamford Bridge or a new redevelopment), Emirates Stadium, Selhurst Park, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium
  • Manchester - Etihad Stadium, Old Trafford
  • Newcastle - St James' Park
  • Nottingham - City Ground
  • Sunderland - Stadium of Light
  • Wrexham - SToK Racecourse

..because the new stadium for the merged club will not be quite ready ?

Not only is there no Lane, but there's bugger all in Yorkshire (population approx 5.5m).

Three proposed sites in Wales though (population approx 3.1m).

Dirty Leeds*

*spits on ground

DirtyLeeds aside. the Lane, Hull, Bradford, the Stadium of Rust, the Riverside and the Dingles, all have significantly higher capacities than Wrexham.

Presumably the Hollywood dream, will have a backwater town near Chester, playing in the Prem by then, in a brand spanking new 75,000 leek seater stadium.

So many clubs didn't want to know about the Euros 22. United stood up and wanted to support the tournament. It was picked up during the event that these 'other' clubs didn't realise just how popular the tournament would be and in particular the quality of football from the Lionesses and their down to earth personalities.

United and Bramall Lane were praised for being there.

Now just look they've all jumped on to the bandwagon.

That’s what’s annoying and all I can see is a distinct lack of appreciation from them. I hope United made their feelings clear. I would tell them where to shove it next time they ask us to host a game. Which they will.

Also …… seemingly disregarded … is how many Women’s Super League 1 & 2 clubs do we have in Yorkshire? The investment from other areas of Yorkshire in the Women’s game is woeful. Yes we got luck last season staying up ….. but the fact remains there is investment now & a bit of a legacy developing. Real shame that Bramall Lane has not been included.

Isn’t this a difference between EUFA who would probably support us and FIFA who have different rules ?

Not sure why England couldn't host it alone. The women's game is bigger here than in those countries and we have more than enough stadiums

Same with Euro 28. Some woke nonsense making us agree to share it with the other home nations (and the Republic of Ireland as well for no apparent reason other than it being nearby) instead of England being a sole and very capable host.

It was even happening during that tournament as attention was building.

Plenty of media coverage asking why England's semi-final was "only" at Bramall Lane when demand could've filled Wembley.

The only stadia on the list that are worse than ours in terms of what is wanted for a World Cup that I've been to are Wrexham (which I assume will be being massively redeveloped) and Selhurst Park. Easter Road and the Belfast stadium might be but I've not been to either. I do not see why this is a thread.

The City ground isn’t great? But just seen they have massive redevelopment plans to take it to 45k. Another club that will have leapfrogged us in all aspects and used their PL money for something permanent 😢

Seems an odd list and Wrexham really can fuck off.
It really wouldn't surprise me if, in ten years from now when the tournament in question takes place, that they have a better stadium than we do. At least in terms of actual tangible metrics, not bullshit like people thinking that BL has a good atmosphere or other irrelevant shit in the context of what works best for an international tournament

It’s probably due to the size of a lot of those stadiums as the first factor, then the second is moving it around the country. The Amex is similar in capacity to BDTBL but can attract new audiences on the South coast. Although Ashton Gate is slightly smaller again a new market to tap into in Bristol. By the time of the stadium Elland Road would have had its upgrades and will be in the region of a 50,000 capacity stadium which isn’t something we can compete with. The smallest being at Wrexham could be the owners having something to do with that not using it for the “less appealing” fixtures. Although I don’t follow women’s football if I did, I would be disappointed if BDTBL was selected and Costa Rica vs Japan was the highlighted fixture. If the bid is successful and you are genuinely interested then Elland Road would be the place to go for Yorkshire folk

Yes, can’t understand why the Republic would want to be part of a British tournament, when they apparently hate us so much…

I don’t want to sound negative as I always seem to need my tin hat when i comment on these, what price would have been the demand to fill Wembley, even for the final. Just for context the men’s final in the US World Cup the cheapest seat is £1500 rising to about £4500 depending on the $ exchange rate and that’s before you have booked your flights and hotels etc.

I was away for when the games were on at Bramall Lane as being out of PL/EFL season I tend to go on holiday in June/July. But if I was there I was thinking how much would I pay at the lane. £50 would be far too much, £30 possibly, £10 I might be tempted to give it a go. Free access to season ticket holders, I would show my face.

I don’t have a problem with the women’s game and it is good to see that it is developing however they need to be sustainable through corporate sponsorship and the like. Ideally they should have their own stadium, not that I want to necessarily distance myself from them but proper facilities that they can call home, needs to be key.
