Sheffield derby First, Worst and Best

My first one was the 2v0 home win in 1991, probably my favourite as well as not many people expected us to turn them over.

Same 17 years old… and been through my entire school life with them lot having the bragging rights.. what a day that was.. was walking on air for a week.

My first was October 1970, my worst was BDM in 1979, my best was Bouncing Day in 2017. The only Sheffield derby in the league I missed in the last 55 years was the 1-1 draw in April 1980 (I was playing football in Kortrijk, Belgium)

First was the 2 - 0 in 1991, that was also my best although I was only 7 years old.

Worst was Wembley.

I was in Doha and only watched until we were 2 nil up on Bouncing Day, then I went in the pool for an hour convinced we’d screw it up and came back when it was 3-2 and saw the 4th goal.

Think my first was Wembley in ‘93 (unless the 1-1 draw with Hodge’s scoring was before that). Wembley would undoubtedly be the worst as well, getting a coach home split 50/50 with Wednesday fans was pretty awful.

Best would be the D’Jaffo match at Hillsborough in about 2002. Can still see Pressman belly-flopping across the line trying to get to Asaba’s header.

I remember going to that game in the early 2000s at Hillsborough, when we won.

Not sure how I got tickets though as I'd never have been near the top of the loyalty points as generally went to all the home games and a very rare away one.

Maybe the allocation was bigger then?!

Be really interested to know your First Sheffield derby match, the Worst one you can remember and most importantly THE BEST!

Myself and Roygbiv have also shared ours if you'd like to see

First and worst,Boxing Day,yeah that one.

I refrained from pulling all the Christmas dec's down mind😁

This every day ....

1st - 1-1 draw in 93, Paul Rodgers scored for us. Remember very little.

Worst - possibly the 2-0 defeat at their place in September 03. Lost count of the number of lucky escapes they’ve had against us but this was the most baffling, we could easily have scored 6.

Best - Bouncing Day.

Same here. The young JD was pretty shocked by the noise and how hostile everyone was.

The fact Wednesday were doing so well and their fans were so insufferable made it a true joy. A bit like 2017 but simply levels above.

Used to have a job working for city catering as a fresh faced 18 year old...got stuck working the away end at Hillsborough for derby day...didn't charge a single penny all day and still gave plenty of Blades their "change"...

Obviously lost the job afterwards, but worth every minute!

First = 3-1 at Bramall Lane in 2003. Michael Brown my lord. Michael Brown! ⚔️

Worst = 0-2 at Hillsborough in 2008. Tram back to town was also shite and couldn’t face any pig mates for weeks. ❌

Best = 4-2 at Hillsborough in 2017. Special day with my old man in the stands. Lost my voice celebrating. 😎

First: Boxing Day 1979 - the first time in my life I was more excited for December 26th as opposed to the 25th.
Worst: Boxing Day 1979 - as we shuffled quietly out at the final whistle, one Blade summed up our gallows humour when saying to his mate: "We've had to watch that rubbish, and then we've got our Auntie Ida coming 'round this afternoon!"
Best: Bobby Davison - it rained apparently; I never noticed.

The first one I remember watching was the 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane in January 2002. Dull and unmemorable.

The worst was probably that 2-2 draw in our first League One season. We were leading 2-0 for most of the game but they hit back with two late goals in the 82nd and 86th minutes. It felt even worse than a defeat somehow.

The best? Well, daft question innit?

First I remember - cup game in 2000 (think this came before the first league fixture ?)

Worst - the one under Robson at Hillsborough.

Best - I wasn’t physically at Bouncing Day, so can’t really pick that. I’ll go for the 3-1 home win in 2003. Brown’s goal is still my favourite ever.

First September 1966 away, 2-2.

Best 3/10/1970, 3-2, we were 2-0 up, Colquhoun scored their equaliser and Tudor came on to score the winner. Raucous delight on the kop.

Worst. 0-4 defeat
