When every touch is a sideways or backwards pass, at some point you're going to put the opposition through on goal. That sort of goal had been coming for some time.
Typo/ warnock/montgomeryThe wilder/peck scenario is as sick and sad as the wilder/montgomery scenario. Teachers pet !
Really sums up pecks game, 2nd goal he gave them vs derby before he made the backwards pass, he had the opportunity to take that ball on the half turn and play a forward pass between the defence yet he wasnt alert to it or doesnt have the footballing brain for it. Arblaster wouldnt have even thought twice about doing this and definitely wouldnt have played it backwards. When every touch is a sideways or backwards pass, at some point you're going to put the opposition through on goal. That sort of goal had been coming for some time.
Peck is playing so much because everyone else is either injured/unfit or shit in that position
Sure if you ignore the injuries I guessThe reason he gets picked every week, irrespective of performance was right there for all to see, on the video of Wilder greeting the players for the first time after replacing Selles.
I’m sure someone can find it![]()
That’s fair.Sure if you ignore the injuries I guess![]()
Yep - everyone who wants him dropped (and I agree if there were options I think he needs a break) - but who are you starting in central midfield in his place!?!Peck is playing so much because everyone else is either injured/unfit or shit in that position
See my previous pointsThat’s fair.
But what about midfield substitutions?
Davies and Soumare are both fit nowYep - everyone who wants him dropped (and I agree if there were options I think he needs a break) - but who are you starting in central midfield in his place!?!
Yes and I'd go with that pair next game - but as always with Davies...for how longDavies and Soumare are both fit now
Don't matter. If he's fit, play him until he's injured againYes and I'd go with that pair next game - but as always with Davies...for how long
This. 100%. It's not like we've got peak Zinedine Zidane headbutting down the manager's door demanding a game.We have a winner. Sheffield United's midfield rests on an academy graduate in his second season carrying it. Not only carrying it, leading it. It's hard for me to be too critical.
its becoming concerning with peck now getting picked every game when he should have been benched for his own good at least 4 games ago he really is wilders pet
I would say that Soumare can play that role and Peck does need a rest the criticism is not fair on a young lad whose had so much responsibility chucked on his shoulders. It is obvious he is struggling with it and his play has become very frustrating and cautious as sign that he is aware of and not coping with the expectationWhat Peck needs is a bit of a rest. What he doesn’t need is load of folk giving him stick.
He’s not hidden and he’s played more games than reasonable due to necessity.
When he broke through the youth he was more attacking in nature. This stint may have helped his game long term but by no imagination was he ever a deep-lying midfielder.
The sad thing is that neither is Soumaré nor Matos. Soumaré is more of a John Fleck. He isn’t a sitter or a destroyer like Souza. If I’m not mistaken Matos would rather play a little further forward too.
All in all, pretty poor failings on the recruitment side.
In Wilder's defence here I fully expect Peck to be dropped once he thinks Arblaster is ready to play.
