Best ever defensive record

Did anyone notice that less season saw the best defensive record in the clubs history. 36 conceded from 46 games = 0.78 per game.

Theres been 4 other seasons where we've conceded fewer but all from fewer games and more per game

1892-3 19 from 22 = 0.83
1896-7 29 from 30 = 0.97
1897-8 31 from 30 = 1.03
1899-00 33 from 34 = 0.97

Theres only been 5 other seasons we've conceded fewer than 40

69-70 38 from 42 = 0.93
70-1 39 from 42 =0.90
08-09 39 from 46 = 0.85
19-20 39 from 38 = 1.02
22-23 39 from 46 = 0.85

Can't see us beating it this season unfortunately. Might even struggle to beat that number of in the goals for column.

We scored the same number of goals for each of these seasons, we finished 6th in 1970 but in the following season we finished 2nd and went up despite conceding one more goal.

I thought the 2008-09 season was very similar to last season, and not just because we lost in the playoff final. All out best players were defenders (Kenny, Morgan, Kilgallon, Naysmith, Naughton, Walker) and the rest of the team was pretty meh, especially after Beattie was sold.
