Am I getting carried away, or were there vestiges of "overlapping" today? Either way, thought he was excellent. Very good with his feet for a defender.
I bloody hope so.Good point mate.
I remember thinking to myself 'WTF is he doing up there' but maybe as you say, Wilder can see enough O'Connell-type potential in him to give it a go.
He is a hell of a more cultured player than I realised. Wilder really had him pushing on today.Am I getting carried away, or were there vestiges of "overlapping" today? Either way, thought he was excellent. Very good with his feet for a defender.
Offered quite a lot going forward whilst being defensively assured at the same time. If we ever revert to 442 he's probably lightyears ahead of our other RB options. (Ahead of our other CB options too, but the gulf is not as big).

But does he wear a magic hat?Good point mate.

Course he does mate. But does he wear a magic hat?
That probably explains it then. I don't recall him being so advanced in previous games though.Tanganga played right back in a 4-4-1-1 yesterday.
I didn't watch the game but Wilder mentioned the back 3 post match, so did we switch the formation around at times?
Not quite correct, it depends where the opposition have their possession. Watford very rarely had sustained possession in the last third (for them). On the few occasions it happened Ogbene is probably still under instruction to drop down to a wing back position as we tweak it to a back five. But yesterday he was very much part of our midfield four when Watford built from the back, let alone when we attacked. From what I see it depends if we have possession or not.

Aye, we went to a back 5 for the last 10-15 mins after he brought Burrows and Shackleton on, which is why it felt like we were sitting back towards the end of the game I think. Not quite correct, it depends where the opposition have their possession. Only at the end I'd say we played with a back five, with Shackleton keeping an eye on Bola off he ball and Tanganga defending a bit more centrally.
