Love Sydie Peck and his passion but he's not a CDM destroyer that we need. He's a ball carrying, box to box forward thinking player

I’m not exactly sure what type of player Peck is.

He’s not an out and out defensive midfielder but he’s really not a forward thinking player either because his first instinct when the ball is played into him is to spin backwards. Compared statistically to Arblaster his forward going contributions are miles off.

He’s young, developing and has a lovely touch but I think he needs to work out his identity as a player and also work on dictating a game. He’s certainly got the ability but I think he slows us down in transition quite often. He also needs to learn some composure in front of goal as he snatches at eveything where he’s got a pretty cool head everywhere else over the pitch.

He worked well in a two with a beast like Souza, he’s been chucked under the bus a bit this season but he’s also ran himself into trouble a fair few times

He'd do well to watch some Michael Carrick footage, potentially a player of a similar mould.

Last season his role seemed to be to get the ball and get it forward, whether that be carrying it or passing and move.

I think he's maybe got a bit ahead of himself, probably misses the Vini partnership too. Having Vini there as support must have given him a huge confidence boost. Definitely has potential if he can keep his feet on the ground and develop.

I'm not sure how good a crow's feet are operating a powerful firearm, but I'd be very worried about the tiger putting the axe down, looking at you and licking his lips.

I thought he was poor in the first half but did well in the second and was instrumental in our improvement.

Yep, he wasn’t great in first half, some of his passes went astray but he did improve.

The Championship will be much more physical and hectic than anything he will have experienced before so would expect him to improve the more he plays and at 22 certainly has potential.

We stepped up ten yards second half and Peck/Soumaré improved ten fold as a result. They didn't have to cover as much space and could concentrate on just playing a bit more.

First half he started well but then lost his way a bit as the whole team did. Looked a bit lost in the left sided role he was asked to do (cf: Vini Souza in 23/24). What I liked about him was that his first thought was to go forward. There’s not enough of that in this team.

There’s a bloody good player in this lad. Good in the tackle & forward thinking with decent feet. Has a bit of close control about him and can turn a defender to make space. Can see him being a big player for us this season.

Just wondered if the performance in the first half, could have been down to him not originally starting?

There were lots of posts knocking his 1st half performance and I just wondered if a big reason for that was, he thought he was on the bench, until the injury in the warm up.

He went through spells today of looking good for 10 minutes and then miles off it for the next 10. That said I hope he starts on Tuesday night and at least this time he can prepare properly for starting

Not being nasty about it with Chong (i quite like him and think he will do well for us ehen he gets up to speed), but I think today's original named team wasnt balanced and it needed another DM. I was actually quite relieved when Chong got injured and Soumare was named as his replacement. Seemed a better balance straight away. Im not surprised that Soumare grew into the game. He along with most of our players, needs time to gel and get up to speed.

We weren't great today but gave ourselves a fighting chance by being more solid and competitive in the middle of the park
