I’m neither for or against Wilder, but looking at the times of these posts, some of you were obviously stood over your keyboard, fingers ready to pounce. Bet you’re loving it with your, ‘I told you so’ comments.

It’s just going to take a bit more than five days. I thought today was an improvement in that it didn’t look like the opposition were just going to drive a truck through us.

It’s a young team completely stripped of confidence. Let’s see how we fare over the next 2-3 but I think we may have to take a bit more medicine to get Sellesball out of our system. So be it, we go again.

I am not a fan of Wilder by any means, and in my opinion the biggest mistake of the last 10 years was to bring him back for the 2nd time. I’m not hopeful about what’s to come because he hasn’t set us up to have any consistent goal threat since JOC got injured.

But to judge him on one performance when he has been back at the club for 5 days is absolutely ridiculous. He’s also having to manage a bunch many of whom proved themselves to be bottle merchants last season. He gets until the end of the January transfer window before I’ll consider calling for him to go. Until then I’ll get behind him for the sake of the club, but more in hope than expectation.

Agreed, he has only been here 5 days but I expect much better next time out.

I thought the idea behind Wilder was that he knows the club and would supposedly going to hit the ground running?

Might as well just had a caretaker manager today and completed a proper recruitment process.

I'm of the same view although he needs to accept the turgid safety first possession football has to go. Too many of his players are too comfortable and need shaking out of their lethargy. He has to show some innovation that is sadly lacking. Changing formation and going with a 3 at the back would be a start. The alarming aspect about today was there was little improvement on Selles ball. Teams will just sit back at the Lane and wait for us to make a mistake as today showed. The team needs leadership on the pitch and the position of Captain needs addressing. I'm afraid if this malaise continues leading up to Christmas then I can't see him surviving. This will be his biggest test to date because we 100% look relegation certs at the moment#

Players don't want to be there was same under selles and exactly same under wilder, peck shouldn't be starting. Campbell looks like his head was turned before the season started, burrows not good enough on present from all players who was more than capable last season so they need a good hard look at them selfs in the mirror. O'hare is a real mix of emotions as some of the stuff he does I like but goals and assist wise for the creative spark is a concern. Hamer hasn't sown us this season what he can has always loved a yellow but looks very reckless at times and hasn't had the creative spark he has in previous seasons. Said the same thing under selles as now back with wilder the players on paper should not be down the bottom of the league it can't just be blamed on the manager when the players can't be arsed to turn up. Also wilder lover or hater it was totally the wrong decision to bring him back for a 3rd spell that shows no sign of the club moving forward at all just a horrible rutt. What happens next time wilder gets sacked or leaves? We get a manager in and he does shit and then phone wilder back up 4th stint rinse and repeat? For me we needed to get rid of selles as that was obvious he wasn't the right man but then should have spent the international break doing research of managers and brought a totally new manager through the door new manager bounce and show some ambition of wanting to move the club forward.
Thought Peck was decent tbh

I think that some people thought that Wilder would come in and immediately shape us up, judging by the amount of people that thought he’d get us playoffs at least. That was and is unfair. You can’t judge someone on one game alone. I think all this ‘told you so’ nonsense is stupid.

Having said that, attacking invention is something we’ve had a problem with since at least January. I don’t know where the next goal is coming from with this team. That is a problem that I’d like to see addressed.

It’s interesting seeing some people blame the players. I had several people (politely) disagree with me when I suggested there was something of a mentality problem among some of the players, some of them seem to give up easily or are simply disinterested. That has to change.

Still, there were some bright spots. We don’t look so open every time the opposition win the ball back, and Tanganga continues to be impressive. Peck looked decent today too.

Hope we improve. We need to.

Don't get me wrong Selles had to go but he got pelters for dripping Hamer and Campbell. However what did we see from them today? They are 2nof our best players but they just aren't performing so far this season

Worse than under Selles at least we had a shot with him
What’s your point then sack him and bring Selles back?. Yes it was very poor still but certainly no worse than what Selles was serving up.

I was expecting a better performance today too but just shows Wilder has got a big task on his hands to get this lot firing again.

Was about to say the exact same. It's like they want us to lose so they can have a go at those that wanted Wilder back thought it was the right thing. One game in.

It was poor but clearly the players are struggling for confidence. Charlton say deep as we knew they would and we struggled to break them down.

I'm not pro or anti Wilder and I take your point here - but do you not think it's a bit rich considering Wilder's only back in the job because of the biggest 'I told you so' of all time?

I’m not sure who we could’ve realistically gotten that would be better than Wilder at this point.

When the pro-Wilder fans start with their ‘I told you so’ nonsense, I’ll call it out. I just find it to be petulant.

Let's not forget it was not only Mr Wilder who was moved on, his training staff also got the push,

I don't think Charlton are that good, thats probably why they didn't look like they were just going to drive a truck through us.

Or maybe Wilder isn't actually that good.

Please note I said maybe.
