Beattie

You also couldn't blame McCabe if he wanted an increase on his reported 40k a week wages..

It's also in stark contrast to the former owner who never let anybody pull his pants down..

Edit: I know it's the agent, but from KMC's point of view that's how it would look..
It's absolutely mental that he didn't pick up the phone and ask James Beattie if it was true that James Beattie wanted more money before selling him and throwing our promotion chances away for a trading loss.

There's no defending it at all.

On the other hand Beattie could've made that call too, but he didn't.

McCabe didn't need to lie about it though, which he blatantly did. Sometimes it's better to say nothing. He openly lied to the fans on Radio Sheffield.

McCabe was good at the sort of thing. This is the same man that cut (or tried to) Stephen Bettis from the clubs payroll without even telling him.

For all the good work he did off the pitch, McCabe did a lot to disrupt the footballing side of the club.

In fairness the Michael Tonge deal was good at the time. He was already in decline and was no longer effective. He didn't have the pace to play on the wing anymore and had Scooby Doo legs whenever he started running. He never tracked back and tackled, leaving Monty or Speed to do everything. I laughed when we sold him as I honest thought we'd ripped Stoke off at £1.85mil or whatever we got for him. He was far from the £8mil player that Liverpool once wanted to sign.

As for other bad deals, Stephen Quinn to Hull was more unforgiveable and another panic sell by McCabe. What did we get for him? £30k or something pathetic like that?

Hull mugged us off for Quinn and Maguire. The Maguire one was pathetic IIRC, we declined their bid and they pulled out, so we went back to them and accepted their offer which we had already declined.

wouldnt surprise me in the slightest. that he sold beattie at the 1st chance he excuse he could muster as alot of players in hindsight got the same treatment. like kenny highly paid, 1st whiff of an excuse to make the footballer the villain he jumped at

The bit I don't get is if the agent did ask mcabe for more money, why is the only option to sell the player, why not just say no he's contracted to us on £X amount per week and that's what we are going to pay him, why would the first reaction be he wants more money, that I'm not contractually obliged to pay, so I best sell him, it makes no sense

Understand this one is close… Lester replacement.
Really? National League South AFC Totton to Championship Sheff Utd? Seems a bit of a jump.

I occasionally see him arriving during my son's training on Saturdays but I've never had the balls to speak to him. Might have to grow a pair this weekend..

He has worked in coaching with Monk a fair bit at Swansea, Leeds, Boro, Brum and even at the pigs..🤣

They is nothing in James to Sheffield United. I clearly asked him tonight, he said no contact with Wilder.

Kyle Walker for about 3 million has to be the worst. Absolutely no need to make that sale at that time.

None at all, other than the fact couldn't afford to keep funding the ever gtowing losses and no other bugger stepping up.

People forget that apart from the odd year, we have lost money pretty much every year for the last 25. It as a few hundred grand a year when McCabe took over and gradually grew to tens of millions per year by the time the Prince had sole control.

Because McCabe had no backbone. In a game of poker he'd be the guy that folds with a royal flush.
