In Wilders 3.0 welcome back interview, he says:

…I look at the group now and I think there’s 29 pros in there, which is far too many. So there’ll be some players moving on and going out the building to trim that down a little bit…

Who do we think? Is it going to be him removing the overt Sellés signings or will it be an opportunity to move on more deadwood? Maybe the Academy boys that are still in the building?

Loan deals for the following would have been ideal:

Oné, Marsh, Faxon, Curtis, Sasnauskas, Ukaki and Zätterström.

Surely Geary and the others at Shirecliffe would have a good idea of which Academy players (I'm including Zätterström and Ukaki in this) need to go out on loan and who needs to stay in the U18/21's.

Maybe with a change of manager, Marsh (playing CM) and Oné (playing LW) would play in their more natural positions (CAM and ST respectively) which should affect where they go on loan.

If Oné goes out on loan, he needs to go somewhere where he'll be played as a ST, whereas he might have been loaned somewhere to play LW at Selles' behest.

Marsh and One definitely either need to be in the 1st team or out on loan. Not only are they wasted in U21s but also they then take up playing time for younger players.

With Ings injured, I can see at least One being involved in the squad.

Assuming with our numbers in Midfield, Marsh might be better out on loan.

new players I guess they might want to keep in house to see how they progress and play. Curtis and Sasnauskas probably better out on loan as unlikely to get first team time.

The simplest thing would be to look at the loans, see if they work for Wilder and if not, return them. Wilder will be looking to January and using the loan market again to bring some players in, but that becomes harder if we’ve used all our loan slots for the match day squad

The likes of Barry and Godfrey, unless they can start to turn in decent performances might be easy ones to cancel, if it’s even possible under the loan deals.

Soumares is also a loan with an obligation upon promotion, which could also be a concern if Wilde can turn things around significantly.

Not sure about Bindon as I’d guess Wilder will see him as surplus since he’s been poor in some games

Ogbene, I understand Wilder was previously linked to him

Did Wilder say Ings is injured?

The high squad numbers probably speaks to the nature of our business - late. In so doing, it meant we didn't have the time to arrange loans for all those that would normally be expected to go out on loan.

Didn't Sellés say something about people not wanting our youngsters? Or perhaps not wanting them on the terms we were offering.

I’d
Bin Binman back to Florist.
Get rid of Godfrey back to Atalanta
And if he doesn’t manage more then one trick and still blows out of his arse on 60 mins I’d barge Barry back to Villa.

Of the younguns
Loans for
Marsh, Curtis and Sasnauskas.
That lad from Leeds, too. What his name? You know. The lad whose arse cheeks are permanently embossed in one of the treatment tables.

I’d keep One in the squad because I don’t trust Ings injury record and don’t know if Cannon can trouble the starting XI any more after recent outings.

Wilder's inheriting a complete mess with the potential for a very unhappy, bloated squad.
If he can't arrest the tailspin relegation still a real possibility.

With that in mind, what's the best way to structure a squad? Only play players we own or live with the unhappiness and play the team most likely to get a result, followed by a conversation that would go something like this 'if you want to play, be the best in the group'.

Pandering to the unhappy is getting a little too close to reality looking like Champ Manager.

Did Wilder say Ings is injured?
Yep, think Selles confirmed it before Ipswich and think Wilder said some point this week that Ings won't be in the mix for the weekend.

He was in the video at training though (along with Tom Davies) so doesn't look like a long term one.

I’d expect the young players to get month long loans to the national league until January when they can be sent out somewhere longer term.

I’m reasonably confident Barry & Bindon loans are cancelled, maybe Godfrey’s as well depending on how it goes.

That would get us back around 25 and I’m expecting him to move a few more out cause he loves signing players, probably bring some more loans in Jan.

Wilder would have never allowed it to get to 29

It will quickly be reduced in January

We should be a bit more patient with Barry. He's got clear quality and is still regaining full fitness. I'd want to keep Bindon and Zatterstrom because 3 at the back should be a regular thing

The ones who should be moved on/loaned out are:

Cannon
Ukaki
Marsh
Curtis
Sasnauakas
Shaggleton
Christian N

It certainly needs a cull of the numbers as we have too many and have too many in some areas of the pitch, and yet are light in others. The squad is imbalanced.

Maybe not a bad thing that they are around to January anyway as CW gets to look at them all after the summer, first hand and up close every day, and can make his mind up once hes seen them. He also gets time to work on loan deals and clubs which suit the outgoing player rather than a late dash to get them out the door as the summer window is closing.

He shouldn't pander to anyone but we've created a huge mess of a squad that is going to take some managing.

Secretly for him, it's a great situation for Wilder to have so many options until January.

Better too many options for a solution than too few.

That sounds like a saying, but it's not, it's just me rambling.

Nobody’s signing Shackleton. He makes Steven Hawking look like Ironman.
