Ridiculous. The style of play was predictable and we were lucky to win most our games last season, if it wasn't for Hamer and Cooper we would have finished mid table.

I guess out of all the names mentioned it would probably be Dyche or possibly Rohl. Both come with risks, Dyche football wasn't always the best, Rohl young and did well at Wednesday against difficult circumstances although their home form casts a slight doubt. Thanks for your reply. Is there a manager you have in mind who would have been gettable or is it more that Wilder falls short on certain criteria but there may also not be an actual candidate that does?
Appreciate your openness by the way. It’s almost impossible for all fans to agree on everything from managers to safe standing to whether they should stock bovril or not![]()
I have been called some names over the years a few on here but Woke is a first.
Was his serious injury secret?Hindsight is a great thing pal.
Deary me, no pleasing some people! That's like saying Burnley were defensive and very boring to watch, they got 100 points so who cares? The main thing in football is to win, and we won plenty of games last season. The style of play was predictable and we were lucky to win most our games last season, if it wasn't for Hamer and Cooper we would have finished mid table.
Why only a 2 year contract
I will continue to offer counter opinions. Is that ok with you?I really love you trying to police my opinions. You can't and you won't. Stop trying
The more intelligent ones would know how to spell grateful DDEvery true Sheffield United supporter should be on their knees welcoming Chris Wilder back .. the more intelligent ones are greatful ...clearly
A SUFC supporter , a manager who has given the club some of its greatest moments in modern history ..a track record in getting results
Only a ridiculous lack of fortune denied United a return to the Premier league..and some " supporters" aren't happy he's back to save your club yet again ?
Shame on every single one of you
Simple question - do you go to the games?Imo not a huge difference between the first two spells. We didn't have the overlapping defenders but the tempo and type of football wasn't a huge change. We rarely battered people even in that promotion season yet people think of it more fondly than last year even before it fell apart people were complaining it wasn't like before when to me it wasn't hugely different!
Yes and I see all that I don't go to. The tempo and goals for which people had issues with last year weren't far off our championship promotion under him. I think the novelty factor of 2019 means we treat it as massively better than last year.Simple question - do you go to the games?
It's not that at all.
I didn't want wilder out at the end of last season but I was happy for a change.
I appreciated that a new manager would probably get less points, but the trade off was more entertaining football, and moving in a different direction with AI money ball scouting, a DoF, foreign players etc.
For whatever reason Wilder wasn't part of that.
The strategy is the right one imo, as other, more successful clubs than us are doing it. The simple reason it failed is that Selles was the wrong man. The plan isn't wrong.
Thanks to Selles we now need structure, organisation and most importantly, points. Wilder will give us that, and should ensure that we remain in the Division this season, with an outside chance of something better.
I'm glad he's coming back if he gives us structure, organisation and points, but I want some entertainment in there as well, and despite 92 points last season, the viewing spectacle was dire. Sneak a goal and lock up shop. Zzzzzzzz
Wilder mark 1 was great, successful and entertaining, then the flounce. Wilder mark 2 wasn't successful (92 points wasn't enough was it?) and was a long way from entertaining. I want mark 1, not mark 2.
Hopefully that explains my position. I'm not "dug in" but I don't understand the circle jerk from some on here, who have been blindsided by 92 points and have overlooked some of the serious limitations in Wilders management. He's not a progressive manager, he's a safe bet and thanks to Selles we need that. We still need to head in a different direction as a club, and if Wilder can adapt and change and get us there, then great.
I still want to see goals and entertainment though whoever is in charge, and I didn't get that last season.
Here's hoping we get Wilder mark 1 again, and the circle jerkers will be happy, and so will I
Move players on? Most have only just come through the doorReflect and analyse over next 18 games. Sure we can get a tune out of players. Team spirit not broken but identity missing at the moment. Some players will move on to trim squad and looking for positive window in January but not expecting lots of business.
