Don’t think dyche is out of our reach. £10m for cannon, pay dyche or anyone else similar. Which one is more likely to get us premiership football.
Why not offer Jürgen klopp ten million or sheikh mansour. ?

Realistically replacing any cult hero probably won't ever end well
Just don’t get this perspective. It is much simpler, if you replace a good manager with a crap one it’s pretty obvious what is going to happen yet some of our fanbase actively encouraged it. Weird at the very least.

I do genuinely feel sorry for the bloke. He’s tried his best but it’s just not working. But a lot of my anger is against the players. They’ve pushed him under the bus with their petulant antics. He looked totally gutted last night, he does care. I wish him all the best if he’s gone.

So this, some players have really shown their true identities, and that's as much on them as it is Selles. Players don't just suddenly loose all footballing brain without some form of poor mental attitude.

Sack wilder to move forward - agreed with. His style last season was not enjoyable to watch, and some will disagree but football to me is entertainment, not just points.

Appointing Selles - said at the time it was a gamble, but it will always be a gamble, no manager is guaranteed success. Let's hope the next appointment works for us because the Selles gamble clearly hasn't paid off.

Regardless of appointment I hope we can unite behind the new manager and not have the repetitive "I told you so" point scoring.

Just been told.

Compensation package being negotiated. Announcement on Monday,

they hope a new guy is in place for Charlton but more likely in time for Oxford, but no consensus on who it should be as yet.
Don't read the gutter press ,!

Don't take it as gospel but I was under the impression that usually there's a set get out fee which would be paid over a set period of time ,works both ways for employer and employee

Yes , that’s the way it works and has done for a very long time in most high profile positions in many industries and professions including football management .

In the vast majority of cases , their contracts will include a termination clause which usually allows both parties to walk away for an agreed amount. This can vary significantly from business to business but I understand that in the latter in respect of a dismissal , it would typically be a year’s salary and most certainly not the value of the unexpired period of the contract.

Just playing devils advocate a bit here.
And for the record, Despite some pretty turgid football last season where we seemed to get our noses in front and then stop playing whilst grinding out results, I thought Wilder should have been given the opportunity to build on last season and try and get the performances to improve and get us to be more entertaining, however could understand the new owners wanting to try something new and take us in a different direction whilst trying some new ideas/technology.

Just say, Selles gets the boot for the appalling start to the season and is replaced by the returning Chris Wilder to much fanfare and celebration.

What happens if we go another 5 games with no wins/draws and no improvement in performance from the team.

Do we then call for Wilder 3.0 to be sacked as he is "unable to recreate the magic of the 2 promotions and 9th place finish in the prem", "has no plan b", "is too stubborn to accept that his tactics were wrong" (all accusations fired at him previously when things took a turn for the worse, amongst others).

or do we say "give him time", "he gets the club" etc, etc because he is one of us/born a blade/has "pashun".

I understand that he has had a lot of success previously and is a vastly experienced manager and many will refer to that as reasons for giving him time as opposed to Selles who is yet to have success/promotions and was definitely a risky appointment.

Personally, I think that the experiment with appointing Selles is clearly not working and isnt showing signs of improving with no apparent attacking threat in any games despite having the tools at his disposal. It has reached the point that the fans have had enough and his position is untenable. He needs to go.
I hoped that things would work out, as I want my team to be successful and it would have been nice to develop something that could see us get to the prem and establish ourselves there. Selles talks a good game but seems unable to replicate that on the pitch.
What I also think is that whoever it is that replaces him, needs to be given time to get things right. Otherwise we will spiral out of control and risk destroying any progress that has been made in recent years following the dark years of league 1 and enter into a cycle of uncertainty and instability.

I heard the new man will be in by middle of the week

"I told you so" point scoring.
Fat chance of that happening they will be all over this forum like a rash gloating within 5 seconds of him being appointed.
Not sure i could Unite behind Wilder its the thought of going back to his style of football and his negative substitutions with McCallum coming on for a forward after 65min, it would be like ground hog day.
Yes im sure he would steady the ship but he's not going to get us Promoted and keep us there.
I think some of our fan base would be happy if we changed our name to Royston Vasey United its like some weird cult, not too mention Wilders head it would be like having Frank Sidebottom has manager.
It would also be a bit rich Wilder fans asking for us to unite behind him when alot were gunning after Selles before a ball had been kicked, pre-season obviously quietened them down a bit but they were back with vengeance after Bristol City.
While Selles has been a disaster and deserves criticism you don't need to bring Wilder into it all the time, there are other options and they don't have to be "Local".

Ben Mee I presume would be interim manager. Although I think they’ll have someone else in this week.

Coaches can be rubbish and players can still perform badly under their coaching without necessarily having a “bad attitude”

Rangers is a perfect example and analogous to our situation.

I have, Robson. Shouldn’t have sacked Warnock or Wilder
Agree

We should also have arranged for Fred Tunstall , Jimmy Hagen , Alan Woodward , Fatty Foulkes , Len Badger etc to be frozen 🥶 and stored under the stage in the fanzone to be defrosted and put straight into the first team - should we need them

Well reasoned but I see the argument predicated on a couple of things
1. the new manager following the same path as Selles
2. The current predicament is as down to the players and their attitudes towards Selles as it is Selles tactics.

Neither of those elements are true IMO.

If I were the new manager the first thing I’d do is to ensure we don’t concede. Just to get at least a point on the board. That would mean 5 at the back, with Burrows and Seriki as wing backs.
Then I’d play Soumare with Matos and Hamer in midfield.
With Campbell and Ings ( if fit) or One up top.
I’d put Mee in the back three to add some experience, probably with McG and of course Tanga.
I’d dispense with the gung-ho, weak pressing and weak wingers until we’d steadied the ship.

Any manager worth their salt will probably do very similar to begin with.

Wilder.
Hecky
Slav
Hecky
Wilder
Selles
Wilder

It as an absolute fucking joke.
If this is the vision of the owners, I hope it all goes tits up for them.
The sheer thought of wilder coming back is making me feel physically sick !
It will do, you know what’s coming when we play you under Wilder.
