Fascinating Personality Analysis of Wilder

Heres a thought, and it's my thought !
But could it be that the problem COH had with Wilder was that they viewed him as too powerful figure around Bramall Lane, and that's why he was removed, because it wasn't his past record at The Lane.
Might not have liked him downing 12pints, standing on tables and chanting songs about an opposition manager, either

FWIW i think he's been pretty honest in interviews, had honest assessments of the game - which is the main thing. It's always an issue when it seems the manager has watched a different game to the fans.

I do agree with that view, but when you put rightfooted players on the left, leftfooted players on the right, centre backs as full backs and playmakers as forwards, then say the team played crap

That would be an honest assessment of the game.

Ruben has his faults (thousands of em) but at least he stands up and takes the blame.

Unless he got it wrong then he’ll starting digging out players, fans, referees, tv pundits and use the phrase ‘point of view’ out of context at least three times.

I'd be inclined to think they were unimpressed with the alleged disappearing down the tunnel at Wembley. I can't say for sure though, as I had disappeared down the gangways heading for a tube 🤷‍♂️

A few bits I pulled out that are particularly pertinent at the moment, unless we go and dick Ipswich 3-0 at Portman Road (mind the flying pigs).

"The best tactical game plan in the world is useless without buy-in, but a terrible tactical game plan with total buy-in always has a chance."

"A manager who walks into a dressing room with a clear plan will be judged on his plan. And once any limitations of that plan have surfaced, players will start to lose faith. By contrast, a manager who walks into a dressing room with an open mind can roll the dice as many times as he likes and won't be judged negatively for doing so."

"When you’re bottom of the league, don’t expect to roll the dice once, with one idea, and get out of trouble. You have to play around, test-iterate and discard what doesn't work."

How do you know he downed 10 pints ? were you there. As for your other 2 points what self respecting blade would'nt do that after doing the double over the pigs.
Did you make as much fuss when the pigs were singing about his daughter ?

Chris had is faults, and the owners might have found this distasteful, but we are Sheff Utd not Real Madrid, it suited us down to the ground, it's funny and best of all Wednesday fans hated it and wanted to kill him, and thats why I loved it - (as well as him getting 92 undeserved points).

How many of those 92 pts were undeserved? Surely not all of them!

XG (Expected Goals) or summet says it should be lower, but thankfully the actual G (Goals) were what they were.
Sky had a graphic saying we should have won more points than we have this season thanks to xg.

A pretty solid argument against XG which I tend to think has some merit usually.

It has its place. I find the singularity that some people / pundits place upon it, practically worshipping it whilst ignoring the myriad other attributes and intangibles, a bit tedious in all honesty.

The (not massively reliable) xG table had us 5th, which would have meant 70-75 points.

Ironically, if that had actually happened, I reckon there's a better chance Wilder would have kept his job and not had so many fans turn against him.

Any evidence of the 12 pints or just a random number plucked from the more than 5 category?

Was the song as abusive as the song 'the opposition' sang about his daughters?

They might not like that a robot isn't working out that well for them, either.

Wow. Who knew Wit had so many accounts on here

Apologies, I just realised I didn't respond to your other points requested.

A manager represents the club. Wilder had the rare luxury of supporting it too. But echoing tribal fan emotion, especially in public, risks undermining his authority.
Fans can chant what they like, rightly or wrongly, without consequence. If those chants cross the line, who pays the fine? The club. Who faces the press and declares how appalled the club is? The manager.

As tribal as Wilder may be deep down, when he’s in the dugout - ours or anyone’s - he lives under the shadow of results and reputation.

You really are a bitter person !

So not being a disciplle of wonder manager Selles, not only qualifies me as a 'bedwetter', it now apparently means I'm bitter.

Who needs to pay for pschoanalysis, when you can come on here and the experts point out all your personality flaws for free.

He’s a professional being paid lots of money
And acting professional and respectful ( as much as it might grate on his teeth ) is part of the package

Wilder was the biggest personality at the club, no doubt had his fingers in many pies, a real figurehead that was somehow more than 'just' the manager. People thought of SUFC and they thought of Wilder. That's great when everything is going well, everyone is pulling in the same direction, helps creates a siege mentality, us versus them.

However, when it starts to go wrong or that one person starts to feel the strain or objectives aren't achieved it can be counter productive. Even more so (as we're seeing now) when that figurehead leaves.

Selles is a football coach. He isn't a 'club figurehead' type of person, which means there are probably many voids (real or perceived) now Wilder has gone.

Incidentally, I prefer Selles' interviews to Wilder's often inarticulate butchering of the English language.

I genuinely think if we can get three points this weekend with a Brentford style performance and then strengthen key areas before the window shuts we could go on a decent run but it means everything falling into place and the team playing to its absolute maximum week in week out and new signings slotting in and Improving us to turn enough to turn narrow defeats into wins
Need to take the fans with the team too which hadn't happened this season but hopefully will if given something to get behind
Bell4 Why have you scrolled through my posts to put a laughing emoji under a post from January last year.?
