Thank you for the summary, very helpful, and illustrates the surgery in process. Whether Selles in the man to make it work, I don't know, but it would seem fair to give him more than one away game at Ipswich to prove his worth? Better to give someone one game too many than one game too few.

Alot of cash on outgoings there to get a squad with depth.

Now Selles will be expected to start delivering results.

COH won't like failure. Look how ruthless they were with dispensing with CW.

9 out 16 in , including 4 for development ( I put Nils in this even though he'll definitely be involved in first team)
I'd give it a 8/10 we filled the centre half area for the first time in years properly.
Personally I think another 10 would have been nice to compete with Gus , my Rotherham supporting neighbour said this morning Ogbene will do well for us as he can play across the front.
Plus we got rid of the last of the old guard.

I think its roughly 13 in and 13 out of first team squad players. I was trying to work out the outlay but with undisclosed you're guessing but my guess is roughly break even or a slight cost on dealing of up to a max of 5 Million.

What I am most pleased about is that we finally have some youngish defenders that we can work with over the next 1-4 years that are our own and not loans.

A genuine overhaul, the biggest I can think of since I started back in the late 80s. Quite conceivable that Hamer (if PSV don't sign him) and Cooper will be the only first choice survivors in Selles' preferred starting 11. I feel for Selles, as he's effectively wasted four games and 12 points already, losing the old players and fans in the process.

The pressure on him is huge, I worry it will be too much for him.

Delighted Cooper stayed.

Nice summary, albeit with those pesky AI mistakes, but cheers!

Also there are the loanees from last season who have left, which adds to the overhaul

Post-summer window, this year vs last year. Permanent signings unless stated.

Goalkeepers: unchanged
Right back: Godfrey (loan) > Gilchrist (loan); otherwise unchanged
Left back: unchanged
Centre backs: Tanganga = Ahmedhodzic; Mee > Robinson; Bindon (loan) < Souttar (loan); McGuinness & Zätterström additional
Central midfield: Soumaré (loan) < Souza; Matos additional; Arblaster injured; otherwise unchanged
Wingers: Barry (loan) < Rak-Sakyi (loan); Ogbene & Chong additional
Centre fowards: Ings > Moore; Cannon additional; otherwise unchanged

I make that (on paper) three improvements in personnel (Mee, Godfrey and Ings better than those they replaced); three downgrades (Bindon, Soumaré and Barry currently not as good as those they replaced) but crucially in each of those downgrades we've got another options (McGuinness at CB, Matos in CM and Ogbene on the wing.

It's over to Sellés now as the squad he's got is better than the one Wilder had this time last year.

Enough players for two clubs

Also got Chong and Zatterstrom as additionals.

It'll be a very pleasant surprise to me if Mee and Ings prove to be upgrades on Moore and Robinson but we'll see.

I think the challenge now for Selles (amongst everything else!) is to turn the collection of players into a cohesive 11 and create some sense of order in a squad that still looks unbalanced. For example, is the intention is that Zatterstrom is a 5th choice CB who doesn't play but has a year settling in and learning the English game? Is Chong a genuine starting option and, if so, where does he play or he is a useful utility player? Etc

Maybe if PA had been as forthcoming in the transfer market as COH have been, he wouldn't have 'failed'.

Both managers have started with much modified squads, let's see what Selles can do.
Will he be sacked if he 'fails'?

So glad someone has put it together. A bit overwhelming to be honest

Good summary, we also had Brewster all of last season who actually did contribute

At a rough arsed estimate of undisclosed fees I would say we have spent what we have roughly brought in. Wages around the same ? Have we a better team , I going to say no but with this dick in charge it's hard to compare. Are we just in the same state as with PA I would say definitely yes what comes in can go out with parachute money to support the club, training ground is a bit of a pipe dream I suspect unless premier money comes in. Next season if still in this league I think we can buckle in for a rocky ride.

Very bad window. We’ve been left with a large, low quality squad. Our business wasn’t great but would be forgivable if we had done it early, but instead we’ve tried to rebuild the squad in the space of 10 days.

Our squad has 33 players, that’s ridiculous. We’ve managed to end up with not a single decent winger, one decent striker and 1 DM who isn’t picked yet 5 centre half’s and 4 right backs.

Souza and Anel are unavoidable sales. Robbo and Moore are strange ones, I think it’s ridiculous to get rid of senior players with such a young squad.

I know fuck all about Zatterstrom, Ukaki, Soumaré, Polendakov and Matos. Barry and Bindon could be good but I tend to think loans should be for somebody who will be a big addition of quality, I’m not convinced either of these would be. Ings and Mee are unnecessary and past it. Fair play with Tanganga, that’s a very good signing (though I’d say we’ve overpaid). Chong, Ogbene and McGuinness are all average players who don’t excite much.

However, there is a decent squad in us, good enough to maybe make the playoffs (with competent management). For example…

Cooper
Godfrey Tanganga McGuinness Burrows
Soumaré
Hamer Arblaster
Chong Campbell O’Hare
A. Davies, Seriki, Mee, Peck, T. Davies, Brooks, Barry, Cannon, Ings

Go on then, I'll bite. Who are the four right backs?

And on the one hand you complain about getting rid of lower-Championship-level senior players Robinson (32) and Moore (33) yet on the other complain that Ings (32) and Mee (35), both of whom were PL players last season, are "past it".

Yeah, I think when they were all at their peak, Ings and Mee were on a completely different level to Moore and Robinson but I think those days are long gone for our new signings. I worry that players at 33 and 35 who have played so few minutes recently are going to find it really hard to contribute in any meaningful way. We'll never know the reasons why Holding didn't get used more but I think it might've been at least partly down to the fact he just hadn't played any football for so long.

Just from a volume point of view in terms of minutes, Moore and Robinson played over 4,500 minutes between them last season whereas Mee and Ings played 450. I struggle to see a world where they make, say, 20 starts each. I wonder if Mee is a 'good to have around the place' type signing who can help develop Bindon and Zatterstrom? Any maybe there's a bit of that with Ings as well.
