If our are really as rubbish as some of you believe and can't cope with a change of manager, I'd prefer Hecky to Wilder. Just until Sharp is ready to take over of course.

This is the key point here. If Peck, for example, can only play for Wilder, then his Premier League ambitions are a pipe dream. Up and at them badge thumping managers are a rarity up there. The players need to be able to adapt to different management styles.

I’m pretty sure one of the reasons Wilder was sacked was to have a more “pliable “ manager . They wanted to change stuff without having someone like Wilder in the way.
Unfortunately United don’t have in my opinion enough “football “ people to recruit successfully coaches and players .

If you're referring to Wilder's second PL season, that was the covid season where no fans were allowed in stadiums. Wilder left / was sacked in March and Hecky came in. We got relegated.

The level to which people have been brainwashed is ridiculous now. Social media demands tippy tappy (boring) football, "classy" (boring) managers and foreign players, so that's what we as Sheffield United must have.

I'm not ashamed to say that I just want to enjoy my hobby. I go to home and away matches to watch the football and spend some time with mates and family, usually involving a beer. It's most enjoyable when we're winning and achieving things, but even more so when there's a connection to the players and manager and there's a generally good vibe around the club. Chris Wilder isn't the only person who can provide that, and one day we'll find someone else who does, but to sack him when we did in favour of what the brainwashed want, was ludicrous. I don't expect the club to make decisions based on what I want, but I can guarantee most fans get enjoyment from the same things as me, particularly proper matchgoing ones.

It's the same with VAR and billionaires/countries buying up clubs. People have been conditioned to think these things are somehow good for the game and we all must go with it because it's progress, despite the evidence being right in front of us that they're making the game worse.

i understand that it was going to be a very tough transition as bar few months we have had a decade of wilder & like warnock in 07 & bassett when he left. im sure people were saying the same back then

i still stand by what i said in june, it was time for a change. we play 7 big games v promoted sides last season & lost 6 of them. then we cant forget both Plymouth games. or that horrendous week in april where we didnt turn up for 3 week & threw away promotion.

whether we have got the correct man. time will tell. but he deserves an extra month

But can you honestly see Selles turning this around? When Wilder joined United he had overseen promotions, gradually moved up the divisions and never been sacked. Selles has only ever had mediocre success (Reading?) at best.

Should never have sacked Wilder, he was building a team, his 1st season back and finished 3rd, 92points, if he'd been given time, I believe we would've been definitely top 6 this season..., unfortunately we now look like bottom 6 is the only places we finish, and the only achievement we can hope for, is to avoid relegation!

My opinion is Wilder should have been given till Xmas and shouldn’t have gone in the manner he did.
Don’t forget though he walked out on us came back and did no better than Hecky not counting the endless line of failures he bought costing the club millions

Those who are saying that are wrong. Of course a foreign manager could work in theory. But the further you get away from the PL and the big city 'international' clubs, the more home-grown talent you see on the field and the dugout. Maybe a foreigner is likely to do better in London or Manchester where he's backed by a huge pot of money than at a cash-strapped provincial city where people are more resistant to change.

We are dire at the moment. But people are asking how can this team suddenly start not getting results, even if performances have not always been great anyway. Well , it is not sudden either. I wouldn't say the number of failed players that Wilder brought in is 'endless'. Not every signing will come good, and some will suffer injuries - but overall Wilder had a decent record in his transfer dealings - better than most managers.

I'm not about to list all the signings that Wilder brought in who were successful, but he basically built a team that went from the third tier to the PL in three seasons.

They always forget about him sneaking out of the back door with a payoff when things didn’t go his way and pissing the clubs money up the wall on shit players because he wouldn’t recruit foreigners.

Facts are Wilder V2 isn’t a better manager than Heckingbottom, their points per game was the same (slightly worse in the premier league when he came back), but Hecky managed to actually get us promoted and beat the best teams in the league.

Whether Selles is right or not is still unclear, he should get until the first international break at least, but if we go back to Wilder or Dyche then that’s the club admitting that we aren’t going to be a premier league club, bar the odd fluke season where we get spanked every week.
