COH statement

I agree with alot of your comments and certainly patience is required. But if they are trying to implement a more modern approach to coaching and management why have they not appointed a Director of Football/Sporting Director, that is an integral component of modern football and has been for sometime. Surely at this stage with a new coach and new methods introduced an opportunity has presently been missed to bring in a DoF/SpDir. to run in tandem.

As for stadium development I'm not aware of any major proposals for that due to COH'S non existent communication strategy or fan engagement. I've seen some people say why should they communicate or that American business men don't do alot of communication. Well I challenge that as Birmingham City, Wrexham and Aston Villa's owners have made their plans and strategies public knowledge. 12 clubs in the Premier League, some with part or full American ownership, have made their plans to develop their stadiums or build new ones public knowledge, in order to increase match day income, commercial opportunities and in some cases use the stadiums for more than just match days.

Because the days of owners just throwing money about are in the past and FFP rules, the way forward by many clubs is to develop commercial activities to increase revenue and club value, for example major high value sponsorship deals and investment partnerships.
I guess my post is my inside hope but I’ll believe it until I can’t - otherwise whats the point of buying us in the first place ?

I think Wilder would do a good job up there…They would probably appreciate his no bullshit approach.
Rangers are too big a club for him. He wouldn't be able to cope with it. He wasn't well when he left in his first tenure here. The pressure would be too much

And its not in Sheffield......

Whilst I agree that you could possibly read between the lines of what was, frankly a mostly generic statement put out when Selles was appointed, and conclude that they want to follow a number of your points and develop the club from within to achieve the sustainable PL goal. However, it shouldn't be just for the fans to make their own conclusions entirely, but for the owners to provide a little more substance on the future of the club.

The statement at the time and also now, seemed that it was issued not as a roll out of the grand plan you have alluded to, but to appease the masses. There was no substance within the June statement. It was a short statement which you'd expect to be followed up on in the summer.

In that one statement, they wanted to talk up Selles and what he would bring to the club, which is natural, but they have since left him to his devices and to take the heat, which doesn't really seem fair on him and the players that remain.

I find it quite odd. We have made a poor start to the season after one of, if not the poorest summers of recruitment which i can remember, perhaps that will change in the coming days and we'll get new bodies in, but the evidence so far from the summer suggests we're far from the plan and in all honesty, i'm not sure that they have given a realistic chance to Selles to succeed.

We keep talking about "patience" and thats fine. I think most of us understand that things don't always happen immediately, but I think thats when the owners should be coming out and providing a little more along the lines of what you describe in your post. They haven't done that, they've left the manager to defend things which are most likely out of his control and they've given, on current evidence, very little for him to work with. None of which casts them in a good light, even if in the background they're doing wonderful things

But Swiss, according to some on here you are just being entitled

Fk that. Engage the supporters

I probably am, but as a collective group of supporters, i don't think we are. Its been discussed a bit previously, we don't need them banging on all the time, but just something of substance would be nice

I’m just looking at the cou

I dunno, they tend to like characters up there. He’d only have to beat Celtic once a season to become a legend.

He's a character. Nah, too big for him. and he'd get the hump if they turn on him after a handful of games.
The Scottish football media aren't as friendly and clingy as those in Sheffield too.

We are trying to follow the Brighton / Brentford model . Finding young athletic potential that can be developed for the first team and on occasion’s , sold for big profits .

We are moving on players who don’t want to play for us , and / or don’t fit with our new managers vision of the style of football he wants to play . We are doing this at a profit before their are at the end of their contracts and can control their own agenda .

We are trying to implement a more analytical and modern approach to coaching and management . Including the development of our training and medical facilities.

We are trying to improve our infrastructure internally and externally whilst looking to develop our stadium .

We are trying to develop our women’s team .

We are in the very early stages of biting the bullet in all this - and the owners have asked for patience . They have have also said that their aim is to return us to the Premier league and try to build an infrastructure to keep us there .

That’s what we are try to do

Grow some FFS

So thats what we are waiting for (very well written BTW) next question is How Long? because I'm old now and I'd quite like to see us win the FA cup before I get my round of applause.

Looks like the owners have handed Biggseh a fuck off tablet as well!

He’s probably too gormless to grasp why……

No one is picking up the phone to him.

McCabe never shied from presence.......... in Belgium

You have to admire the revisionism from local journalists regarding McCabe. Alan makes it sound like McCabe was making statements all the time, I remember many on this forum wondering why McCabe wasn't talking at times. Especially when we went through the whole cutting our cloth period after his monumental fuck up with Robson and we were dropping like a stone to League 1 after Blackwell. When the fire got to hot for McCabe he pissed off to Belgium for a bit.

A top Championship side always involved in the promotion chase. A side with many millions coming in with Prem money. A side with players worth many millions.

Owning a big club like Sheffield United must be easy. What could go wrong......
