Is any of the transfer money been used to cover the safe standing area ?

If it’s true, then the signs for the future are not looking good. No sign of the owners putting anything in if we can’t even recycle the income from transfers.

Unproven manager, weaker squad, no signs of transfer kitty of any substance = Low expectations

Be interesting to see where we are after 5 games, looking at the fixtures 10 points would be as good as I can see.

I agree with part of that but what we have managed to do/will be done by Christmas is an improvement to infrastructure. A new pitch, and works still ongoing on developing the training ground. The match day experience if you like the fan park is supposed to be a bit better this season. Still money in the pot to bring in signings too. We could be in a lot worse position that's for sure!

I mean, the owners have just put a hundred odd million in...

I suspect last January was funded by owners against the parachute payment this season.

When you sell a player you don't just get the money. It's spread out across the deal. Soz we've not got £22 million coming in just the promise of £22 million. Note we've just taken a loan which is presumably against future transfer income.

I suspect we have somewhere between the loan amount and the loan amount plus 50% to spend on transfers. I doubt our owners have money sat doing nothing in bank accounts. It will be invested. I'm hoping that a certain amount has been set aside for the training ground, which is more important than signing players.

Do you have a link to that interview TB?

Would he announce that he has all the money available when negotiations are ongoing ? I think not.

Has anybody actually bothered to listen to the interview before shitting the bed at the headline?!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0lvq4mp

Interviewer: "Have you been told that you'll be able to reinvest some of the money you've got from Anel, Vini Souza, Kieffer back into the squad or will it be frees and loans?"

Selles: "No, We've been told we can reinvest the best part of that money and that's what we are looking (for) now. Its about how you spend that money on what we need.

In my mind it's not about replacing player-by-player, we need players that are exciting because of the way that they play football and they can give us support straight away. That's not easy.

From the board to the CEO, we have a 'yes' about investing part of that money."

Somehow the headline is the last 5 words, and made out to be some horror story.

How on earth has anyone put hugely negative spin on that quote - do people honestly expect we reinvest every single penny of those transfer fees and not a penny goes towards running the club?!

We've taken some decent fees and we're now looking at signing some quality that instantly improves the team with a chunk of that cash.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Or am I just a clapper?...

2pts per game, yeah that's promotion form

I don't know the intentions of the board in what they can/will spend. But even if all the Vini/Anel/Moore money was being made available (highly unlikely I know), it ain't going to be made public, so all clubs can double their valuations on our targets 'cos we're awash with cash, as seemingly Brum and Wrexham are.

What will be will be! I do agree with Selles' intention though, that he's looking for quality over quantity. Would just like a dominant CH in sooner rather than later, followed by another RB and possibly one more striker/winger.

This is how I interpreted it as well.

Assume some will help towards the drop in revenue
The rest will be sensibly reinvested into the first team playing squad on players they feel will give us the best chance this season but also have some potential to make a profit inline with the new model

Would he go on the radio and say we’ve just made £25 million in sales and we’re spending the lot? Nah would he bollocks. Even if we were. What would the Hull chairman do with Hughes then? Accept a lower offer or stick to his guns at £17m?

Football is a game of smoke and mirrors and keeping cards close to your chest.

We also need to take a look 3 miles away before we wish for reckless spending.

couldnt find found some text quotes from it

SHEFFIELD United manager Ruben Selles has stressed that money from the sales of senior duo Anel Ahmedhodzic and Kieffer Moore will be ploughed back into squad reinvestment – but not all of it.
Ahmedhodzic, in the final year of his Bramall Lane deal, completed a £7m move to Feyenoord earlier this week, with the Dutch giants – who had previously been keen on Middlesbrough's Rav van den Berg – electing to focus their attentions on the Bosnia and Herzegovina international and brokering a deal in double-quick time. Experienced striker Moore also sealed his £2m switch to Wrexham.
The departure of Ahmedhodzic leaves United particularly light in terms of senior centre-back options.

Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey – who hails from York – Hull City's Charlie Hughes and Malmo's Nils Zatterstrom have all been linked with the Blades, with Selles confirming that the trio are on his radar.

“We are not replacing player by player, we need players that are exciting because of how they play football and that is not easy.
“But from the board to the CEO, we have that agreement about investing part of that money.

I like Selles so far.
He doesn't try and swerve questions, he answers them.
I really liked his answer on Struber and how he sets up, everyone had their own way but was very refreshing to see a manager talk about details of how an opponent may play rather than “good physical team we’ll have to be at our best we know that”

Was he asked directly about all transfer fees received or did he just answer the question about Moore and Anel money? I presume we’ll have A percentage of all funds

If it’s true the owners are trying to run a sustainable club and not spend every last penny on a gamble. It’s hard to know what the owners plan is since we hear nothing but generic statements from them but I’d hope that reinvesting the moneys into all areas of the club would be sensible, including infrastructure.

But let’s see
I mean, the owners have just put a hundred odd million in...

The latest July August loan was against the future parachute payments wasn’t it? Just as the January loan was also against future parachute payments.

As for the spread of payments for the income, the same would be true for any spending. We’d also spread the payments so we wouldn’t need all of the income in the bank in order to spend

The new owners may not have made the entire payment to the prince, there may also be additional money due to him. There was a payment in case of promotion, which obviously didn’t happen but there may also be a time period for this as well
