If only Chansiri had thought about borrowing from the vampire bank to aid cashflow šŸ¤”
By all accounts he’s borrowed a lot from various ā€œsourcesā€ over the years, and part of why he wants such an inflated fee for them now is because those people now want their money back… but yeah, not really one for the Charlie Hughes thread šŸ˜…

In order to borrow he needs to be able to demonstrate the ability to pay it back.
Which might beg the question what would we have borrowed against without a future guaranteed parachute payment?
Future transfer fee installments. The club has done that before

Don’t know about most of what you wrote, but as we’re now borrowing money from the Vampire bank, it hardly suggests we are flush with cash?
How do you know that ? Apart from ownership,CEO and shareholders,I don’t think anyone has a clue until the accounts come out.

I’m sure all of the consortium have money. How much they have agreed to or are prepared to invest is unknown.

I just ask the question, why borrow money at an extortionate rate if there’s money available from our investors?

Because, as has been pointed out many times before, having money and having ready cash are two very different things.

I understand why they might be reluctant to do it again this summer after the disaster that was the January window, thanks to Wilder, Taylor & Hoyland for they one (are any of them still at the club?)
Ā£10m on a fairly useless striker when a commanding CB was 10 times more important.
And we'd made that mistake before - JoC , Brewster , then Robbo replaces JoC 🤣.
Club run by lunatic in January.
Repeats the same crazy mistakes as in 2020 , which it has only just finished paying for , 5 years later.
And folk wonder why Wilder was sacked šŸ™„

It's a ltd company ,they are letting it use the funds available to it ,ie future TV payments ,instalments on transfers ,the use of forwarded money from the banks is a common football practice to help cash flow . If and when there's a need for other cash I'd have thought they would raise it through a share issue amongst the consortium. Don't quote me

Do you know for certain that we are borrowing money at an extortionate rate from a so called back street lender ? I have no clue where their funds may come from. Americans are usually quite smart at lending etc,but the amount of money what we must be saving from high cost loans from last season and sales this season must be eye watering. Loss of maximum parachute money makes a big difference and the cost of running a club also is huge. I would like to see myself the incomings and outgoings per week/month.

The question ā€œbeggedā€ is however fallacious and indeed (currently) irrelevant.
We do have a ā€œfuture guaranteed parachute paymentā€ which (for better or worse) we have apparently chosen to ā€˜draw down’.
Folk with more financial ā€˜savvy’ & insight / understanding into the clubs financial circumstance than myself (& perhaps others on here) have evidently deemed it appropriate (&/or necessary) to adopt that approach.
Reasons / reasoning are (surely) pure conjecture but perhaps extent on a continuum from - current expenditure/ commitments exceed income whereby the monies are needed to ā€˜keep afloat’ through to utilising said collateral to build upon a (relatively?) strong position achieved ā€˜on the pitch’ last season (albeit currently weakened by ā€˜outgoings?!?) .
In that ā€˜speculate to accumulate’ scenario utilising those ā€˜guaranteed’ funds (less the ā€˜vampire charges’) could be viewed as an investment that, if successful, realises considerable greater riches, or a ā€˜punt’ that backfires if promotion is not realised.

They did make a push for the prem, they gave wilder cannon and holding. Who then went on to conduct one of the most impressive bottlejobs I’ve ever seen
You can't bottle promotion with 92 points won. Even if we'd got 10 more points, we still wouldn't have gone up.

We demolished Bristol City in the semis, and then in finals, games are won in big moments. We were comfortable before Hamer and Campbell came off (as they can never last a full match). The equaliser obviously gave them real confidence and momentum, but it was that that lumbering Welsh donkey who gave away the ball with zero pressure on him. Sunderland getting promoted last season might just be the flukiest ever Championship promotion, they lost their last five league games leading into the play-offs, and didn't deserve to win either the semis or final. Not that I'm bitter or anything, but hope they come straight back down in embarrassing fashion!

No we wouldn't. We'd have finished on 100 points, but still in 3rd due to Burnley/Leeds having a way better GD than us.

Exactly.

Second half of the season Burnley, and all season Leeds, were just much better sides than us.
Our points total massively flattered.

If the team that turned up once in every 5/6 games could have maintained that level of consistency, maybe we'd have gone up.
But too many of our players, inc. a lot of our key ones, blew hot & cold.

However I would argue being 2 points clear at the top on the 29th March and finishing 10 points off second place is undoubtedly a bottlejob
Before that game at Oxford in April, we hadn't lost on a weekend all season. We certainly dropped points against them and Plymouth, but I don't think we choked. The difference was that we lost home and away to both Leeds and Burnley.

H2H record between the 3 clubs:
Burnley 10 points
Leeds 7 points
Blades 0 points

Just not worth 20mill, with their financial woes too - I wonder if come January they might be forced into making a sale or two...
I think given what's been coming out about bids from other sides, they're just trying their arm with £20m and would probably be interested in selling for less.
If not, there are better options for right now, out there.

They wouldn't get 20mill for him. That's just their manager talking him up.

I'd imagine somewhere in the 9-13m range would be sufficient to get him from Hull given their current woes. He's one of their prize assets, but they're desperate for cash right now. They might even let him go for lower if the deal was significantly front-loaded.

Ā£20 million for a player who played in the defence of a side who finished 4th bottom last season……jog on…….this guy is way over hyped at the moment. Ā£5-7 million tops based only on potential.

He can say what he wants!.....he ain't getting Ā£20mill ā˜ŗļø

Sorry but I don't think we should be spending £10m+ on any player in the Championship with the income at this level. I've nothing against Cannon and am sure he's a decent striker but what on earth were we thinking considering if we hadn't gone up under Hecky we'd very likely be in the same situation as Wednesday are in right now? Now apparently we're considering another £10m+ on someone who looks competent but not amazing? I don't want to sign Charlie Hughes when he's going to cost £10m I want to sign Charlie Hughes when he's £3m from Wigan. Surely that's the sustainable model we're looking at or investing in development players to flip for a tidy profit like Ndiaye or Osula. Please please please don't turn us into Wednesday I don't think I could cope with that!

Cov have had 2 bids rejected according to journos today - they are going in for a third. Hull want more than the 17m that Ipswich paid for Greaves. Which is ridiculous as no PL club is interested in Hughes currently. They dont want to lose him, and unless we put in a bid north of 10M, i would say we need to move on
