Where do the FA get these refs from?

I forgot Hulse!

So, Jags apart, thats 147 in close on 7 seasons if that was just one player, he would only have been playing 21 games a season.

So What Warnock had was one PL clas player (Jags) and 8 others who, if you merged them together, might make one other PL class player!

Although it could be argued that our relegation from the Premier League held back some of those players as we dragged them down with us.

I'm quite sure that Kenny, Hulse, Tonge and Quinn could have slotted straight back into some Premier League sides if we had had to let them go at the end of 2006-07.

I would add killgallon and stead to that list as well. As i said before, its a real shame Steads career has gone so down hill, he was very consistent IMO

Possibly, which players a PL experience prior to 2006-07 I can think of:

Unsworth (lots)
Morgan (handful with Barnsley)
Akinbiyi
Stead
Hulse (handful with WBA)
A. Quinn (handful with Wednesday)
Sommeill
Kozluk (handful with Derby)
KIlgallon (a few with Leeds)
Gilliespie (lots)
Shipperley (lots)
Short (lots)
Wright (lots)
Bennett (Birmingham)
Gerrard (lots)

yes , the up shot being we were a championship side in the prem , with championship level players , which is why it always wrankles when people say we have fallen further than in reality . We have, as the prem season was a temporary high been a championship level team in reality for 30 years, using the prem card to beat a point to death is nt in touch with reality,

Nearer to 40 years in actual fact (circa 1975).
You could do a similar exercise with Bassett’s Premier League side and say that apart from Deane, Blake and Kelly none of the other players became Premiership regulars after we went down.
Bassett got us up to 9th, reached a Cup Semi Final and kept us up above our actual level for four seasons.
Still you get many wanting to bash him because he sometimes calls us Sheffield and be ashamed of our success because it wasn’t the “right way” to play.

Garry Flitcroft, Bruce Dyer, Geoff Horsfield and Brian Deane.

Bruce Dyer actually did more harm than good for us that season.

On 19/11/05 he denied us all three points by scoring twice for Milwall in a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane.

Then on 14/02/06 he won us a point by scoring in a 1-1 draw with Reading at Bramall Lane.

The scorer for Reading that day? Mr. David Kitson.

Garry Flitcroft, Bruce Dyer, Geoff Horsfield and Brian Deane.

None of those player for us in the PL season - all except Horsfield were released in summer 2006 and Horsfield was out on loan all season.

Kelly was never a PL regular either after he left us. He was Blackburn's reserve keeper in the PL in 2001-04.
